How Could I Ever Forget
Kurtbastian AU. Kurt and Sebastian both went to Dalton in the early mid-to-late 90s. Although they dated through most of high school, Sebastian was too afraid to ever come out, and when they graduated in ‘98, they went their separate ways and didn’t keep in touch.
Time jump to 2015, and they run into each other again in New York. It takes they a moment to recognize each other, but they’re sitting across from each other on a relatively empty subway, and eventually they make eye contact and can’t deny it.
They catch up over drinks after exchanging numbers. Kurt’s pursued a career in fashion. He has begun to make a name for himself as a designer. Sebastian even admits to having seen his name pop up on magazines before and every once in a while looking him up.
Sebastian got married to some woman he met in college, named Santana, right after graduating. She was a closeted lesbian, so it seemed the perfect plan since they could be beards for each other. But eventually Santana wanted to come out, and they got a divorce that was too messy and hard to explain, so Sebastian came out as well. He worked at a fancy law firm, but they found an excuse to fire him once he came out, and he hated the job enough not to fight it. Instead, he had a job working at a bakery for a while before he realized he wanted to open up his own.
They start hanging out more regularly. At first it’s just as friends. Kurt is dating a guy named Adam, and the relationship has run its course and fizzled out, but both feel too bad to end things. But eventually they do on good terms, and Kurt is finally able to recognize his feelings for Sebastian.
They visit back home, and Burt is able to be the supportive family that Sebastian never had. And after much deliberation on Sebastian’s part, they eventually start dating.
