Okay, I have already expressed my opinion on the anime Diabiolik Lovers and on Yui Komori. Now it's time for the Sakamaki brothers. They're quite important characters from both the anime and the games. Each of these brothers has their own appearance, personality and, unfortunately, a difficult and toxic childhood. Here, I'll share my opinions and thoughts on each brother. And remember, this is my opinion and mine alone. So please respect that. Watch out, because I'll write like hell 😅.

🩸─────────ೋღ 🖤 ღೋ─────────🩸

💙 𝐒𝐡𝐮 𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢

Shu is the eldest, meaning he's the firstborn son. One thing that's certainly commendable about his appearance is his eyes. Honestly, Shu has truly beautiful, deep blue eyes. Shu in the anime is known for constantly listening to music on headphones and not giving a damn about anything that happens around him.

The Sakamaki brothers are known for having a difficult and somewhat toxic childhood. Shu is no exception. As a child, Shu was destined to succeed his father, Karlheinz, thanks to his mother, Beatrix. Shu had to follow the rules and had virtually no childhood. He had to behave himself, as evidenced by the scene where Beatrix ordered a butler to take away Shu's puppy, which Shu had received from his best friend (Edgar).

However, when Shu lost his best friend, you could say something died inside him, as if he had lost all will to live.

In the games (especially More Blood), it was shown that Shu tried to keep Yui away from him because he didn't want her to lose her life. Because, according to him, anyone who is with him dies. In the anime, Shu may not be too dangerous, but he is also a sadist who doesn't care about Yui, and when he drinks her blood, he treats her like trash. In the games, Shu treats Yui this way at first too, but later changes for the better and shows his love.

But seriously, calling Yui "sl*t" in the anime (which also happened in the English dub) is really, really rude and downright unforgivable. Seriously, if I were Yui, I'd punch him in the face. No one should call a girl "sl*t."

🖤 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐣𝐢 𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢

Reiji is the second son in the family and Shu's younger brother. Unlike Shu and his other brothers, Reiji takes care of the household and is the "Man of the House" (even though Shu is the firstborn). Reiji is very particular about rules and etiquette. He's a perfectionist. At first glance, he seems like a well-mannered and cultured guy. But he's also a sadist, and in the anime, he repeatedly treats Yui like trash, acting like a domineering lord and master. He's like Sebastian from "Kuroshitsuji", but in a worse way. But his appearance cannot be faulted, because Reiji looks really great and has well-chosen voice actors in both the Japanese and English versions.

Regarding Reiji's childhood, unlike Shu, Reiji was treated like air by his mother. While Shu resented his mother's constant attention, Reiji craved it more than anything, and honestly, if he could, he would trade places with Shu. No matter how hard Reiji tried, Beatrix ignored him. In fact, there was a scene in the game where Beatrix noticed Reiji and even encouraged him to continue his studies. Remember, my dears, favoring children is one of the biggest mistakes in parenting. Every child deserves the same amount of love and attention.

But honestly, Reiji shouldn't hate Shu so much just because Beatrix favored one child and didn't give a damn about the other. Especially since Shu felt limited and unhappy. On top of that, Reiji burned down the village where Shu's best friend lived, making Shu think Edgar was "dead." Why did Reiji do that? Because he wanted to get his mother's attention. But he also hurt his brother. In the anime, we see Reiji being mean to Shu more than once, calling him "deadbeat." Reiji, damn it. Are you blaming Shu for losing the will to live? I understand you were neglected, but get a grip.

❤ 𝐀𝐲𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢

Time for my favorite brother, our Ore-sama himself. Honestly, Ayato's appearance and voice acting are truly amazing. And he had the most interaction with Yui in the anime. And their romantic relationship in the games is also well-developed. Ayato is a typical narcissist who thinks he's better than everyone and wants people to worship him on their knees and kiss his hands. He call himself a Ore-sama, or Yours Truly (in English version). And he's sadistic too, very much.

It's true that in the games, Ayato undergoes a change when he falls in love with Yui. But in the anime, Ayato treats Yui like his own, not caring about her feelings and preferring that Yui remain silent at all times. There were moments where Ayato showed his feelings and some human reflexes towards Yui (like calling her "Yui" twice and, especially at the end of the first season, when Ayato was by Yui's side constantly and worried about her. He even gave her back her cross. And when he threw Yui into the pool as a punishment, but realized he was behaving like his mother, which might have scared him.). But honestly, in real life if someone was with a narcissist like Ayato, the relationship should have ended.

However, Ayato became this way because of how his mother, Cordelia, raised him. And let's face it, in real life, Cordelia would have her parental rights terminated and she would have gone to jail.

Ayato was chosen by Cordelia to become the heir to the throne. So he had to study constantly, which meant he didn't have a childhood. He couldn't play with his brothers, literally living like a little kid. And as punishment, Cordelia would throw him into a lake, knowing full well that her son couldn't swim. Furthermore, the manga showed Cordelia beating her son as punishment. The truth is that Cordelia wanted to use Ayato to get Karlheinz's attention. And you know what's worst? That Cordelia convinced Ayato that if he wasn't the best, he'd be nothing. That he wouldn't even have the right to call himself her son. Holy shit, do you people hear that? Can you honestly imagine hearing a mother say that to her son? It's a child's literal understanding of "You're not the best? You're not my son. You have to earn love."

But Ayato, that doesn't give you the right to treat Yui like she's yours. Because your possessiveness is unhealthy and toxic.

💚 𝐋𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢

It's time for a pervert and manipulator who in real life would go to jail and get ten restraining orders.

Another well-chosen voice acting, good looks and sense of style. But the anime behavior? Total cringe.

In the anime, Laito is a perverted, manipulative, and limitless pervert who repeatedly "m***sted" Yui. The scene in the church traumatized me to this day. Moreover, Laito has a distorted idea of ​​love.

Laito, like Ayato, also had a difficult childhood. Except Laito had a... unhealthy relationship with his mother. Laito wasn't treated like a son, and Cordelia treated him like her lover. Oh fuck—

Cordelia made Laito think love was just about sex. We know from the manga and games that when Karlheinz found out about this unhealthy relationship, he locked Laito in the basement. Cordelia came to him only to tell him that she was just using her son and, on top of that, making love to Richter in front of Laito. God damn it...

Also, I don't understand this concept in anime that if a vampire kills another vampire, is it proof of love? But honestly, Laito's saying, "What's it like to love something and hate it at the same time?" is truly true. And towards Yui, Laito is also a sadist. Because what if it were otherwise...

At least in the games Laito changed for the better. But in anime... Ehh... Keep your pants close, fedora pervert.

Oh god, my hated Sakamaki brother! I will pour out so much of my frustration on this hysteric.

Kanato seems like a childish, yet terrifying kid at first glance. But the devil is in the details, because once you get to know Kanato, he's much worse. He's sadistic, hysterical, a ticking time bomb, moody, creepy, and scary as hell. And he is terribly attached to Teddy.

And Yui's treatment in the anime and games is tragic. Admittedly, it wasn't that bad in the games, but in the anime? Good God, he should be in a mental institution! He treats Yui like his property, like his doll. He doesn't give a damn about her feelings or whether she's in pain. He only thinks about himself.

The most irritating thing about Kanato is his constant yelling. But also, when Yui tried to call at school, Kanato would tell Teddy that Yui was insensitive because Yui didn't realize Kanato wanted a drink. Yeah, because Yui should have fucking read his mind and come with a drink already made. Dude, you could have just gotten the drink yourself or asked her. And when Yui apologized to Teddy, he acted like he was jealous and possessive of his own teddy bear. And Yui brought him coffee, so he could have politely said he preferred something sweet or told her first. And then he yelled at Yui, called her a pathetic human being. God, man, calm down and shut the fuck up! You don't have to yell like that! Why don't you just burst into tears and stomp your feet like a little brat whose mommy didn't buy him a new toy? Jesus, I hate that guy. Kanato is the type of person who wants everyone to know what he wants and fulfill it.

As for his backstory, Kanato didn't have it easy either. Cordelia didn't pay much attention to him, which is why he had friends in toys. And on top of that, he witnessed Cordelia and Richter having sex in his presence. We only know that Kanato sings beautifully, which pleased his mother. Of course, Kanato, like his brothers, contributed to Cordelia's death. He burned her body and kept the ashes in a vial hidden in his teddy bear so he could finally have his mother all to himself.

And now it's time for my second favorite of the Sakamaki brothers, our Subaru. Here too, his appearance and voice acting did not disappoint. I love his eyes ❤.

Subaru was honestly probably the only brother in the anime who treated Yui with any degree of humanity. While he had his moments of anger towards her, fueled by jealousy, aggression, or sadism, he genuinely possessed a hidden protectiveness.

For example, when Yui gave her silver dagger or told Yui that she had a chance to escape when the moon was invisible in the sky because of the clouds. Or in the second season, when he asked Yui if she was with the Mukami brothers of her own free will. Honestly, if Yui had told him she'd been kidnapped, Subaru would definitely have saved her.

Subaru's personality can be aggressive and sometimes loses control of his emotions. However, as I mentioned, he secretly has a protective nature. Furthermore, Subaru has low self-esteem, considering himself a piece of trash.

Subaru's childhood wasn't easy either, which makes us sympathize with him. Subaru was the product of... r*pe (as we know from the manga) and i*cest, as his mother Christa, and father Karlheinz, are cousins. Christa certainly loved her son, but there were times when Christa, due to her mental instability/mental breakdown, verbally abused her son and asked him more than once to kill her.

In the games, Subaru, as a tsundere, was at times a charming and good boyfriend to Yui.

Each of the brothers had a difficult, almost toxic, childhood that shaped them into sadistic vampires who knew no love. While they were capable of transforming in the games, in the anime they were simply awful (with the exception of Subaru). Their treatment of Yui was simply horrific and unforgivable. These are literally characters from a romanticizing abuse anime.

They say that parenting mistakes and a difficult childhood shape a person for the future. But seriously, you can't excuse the boys' terrible behavior by saying they had a shitty childhood. In real life, the brothers should see a psychologist and work through their issues with a psychologist.

In the games, however, the brothers underwent changes in their behavior. But in real life, love doesn't change a person who has problems. Life isn't fan fiction where there's a "I can change him" type of thing. No, love doesn't change a person. Love doesn't replace therapy. Love can encourage change or support.

I've sometimes read comments on YouTube where people would write shit like "She lives in a dream life." Seriously? Are you fucking serious? Yui, who is treated like trash and a blood bank by the guys, and you think she's living the dream life? Oh yeah, because the guys are handsome and sexy. And that's your reason? No, people who romanticize toxic behavior are abnormal to me and need therapy and psychological help.

Okay, guys, I have to admit, I really wrote a lot on this. I don't know who will want to read it, but oh well 😅.
