tbh i’ve still only read The World is Full of Married Men & now Hollywood Wives but she’s so fun! her style is more dishy & raunchy than Jacqueline Susann & her contemporaries but kind of a precursor to modern gossip culture where we laugh at how out of touch celebs are with more than a touch of satire & contempt... less Valley of the Dolls, more Beyond the Valley of the Dolls... tbh her plots are frankly ridiculous & convoluted but it doesn’t matter bc her strength as a writer is def her Jackie-isms & absurd wtf moments... so while personally I thought Married Men was a much tighter book, Hollywood Wives is such iconic ultratrash... im gonna read the Lucky Santangelo series next!
