Daniel sidles up to the jail phone, quickly dialing in his roommate’s number. He listens to it ring, and at the click of an answer, he says, “Connor, listen, I’m in jail, and before you ask any questions, it’s a long story that I’ll tell you on the way home. Right now I need jail money and my T card so I can get out of here. And please, please, don’t tell Jonathan–he’ll laugh at me again like that time in college.”
