Someone mentioned this to me in passing this week, and now I'm all in, and sad I didn't hear about it sooner. The Hidden Almanac is written by Hugo, Nebula, and Mythopoeic Fantasy award-winning writer, Ursula Vernon (@redwombatstudio ). And has been delighting ears--in 2-4 minute semi-weekly increments--since 2013. Reverend Mord is a dower religious scholar at the Ravencoast School of Divinity, near Echo Harbor. On community radio, a few times a week he gives "on this date in history" snippets, which Saint's feast day it is, and the goings on in the school's garden--which he is very passionate about. Sometimes, to Mord's chagrin, chipper Pastor Drom fills in, or stops by. And in the garden, a lonely, but Most Excellent Crow, named George, half heartedly attempts to summon the dread god, Corvus-Wrax, but mostly croaks amicably while eating Cheetos. If Echo Harbor isn't somehow near Lovecraft's Innsmouth, then I'll eat my hat. A bit weird fiction hagiography, a bit dark history, a dash of The Odd Couple, several lost interns, an eldrich horror or two, and a dollop of Farmer's Almanac, and you'll have an idea of what The Hidden Almanac is all about. It's a great podcast if you want to listen to a dozen or ten short episodes for some dry wit or silliness while you a working on something, or waiting for an appointment. Give it a try! And remember, whatever you do, Be Safe, and Stay Out of Trouble.
