Photoshoot Commission - Sakyi 4
I had a commissioned brief to photograph The Sakyi 4 for their website. The brief was open but they wanted it to look professional and high quality.
I then looked at some images I had seen before that stuck in my head and did a quick google search to set a visual brief for myself and the client.

I suggest black neutral clothes, a white background and one softbox to light my subject, two softboxes to create an even background.
I then looked at a shot of a model I worked with previously Chariffe Greaves
The simple lighting from over the photographers shoulder looked simple, not too technical and the model shines through. The Black turtle neck was a great example to show the clients as an example of what to wear.
I let them move around, dance, sing, just interact with each other. They have a natural rapport and chemistry. Playing music helped create a casual environment and everyone took direction well.
The studio was quite small and I had to use a wide angle lens. The lights weren’t very bright either so I had to use f4 to shoot and that caused softness so a reshoot may be necessary.

The shoot was 2 hours. The client covered the studio booking fee and I was paid nothing.
Here are some screen shots from my lightroom editing session. I will have to take these in to photoshop to further edit them but as far as processing, I just took the brightness up a third of a stop, took the blacks down to reduce detail in their black tops and bring focus in to the faces. The contrast between the white background and the black tops creates interest when they are dancing or just standing close, as the tops merge and create one shape.
Here are a few of the single images. ones they can use for promotional material and for individual social media promotion.
I sent back the client a few formats for their website, including a mock up using their logo.
