“You’ve dragged me into this hellhole, but you can’t make me leave!”
Nines was about to offer to take Gavin’s hand to help him up so they could leave but...
Yes, he did drag Gavin to this place, but he did it to buy the man dinner, to force him to get out for a bit outside of work and go somewhere nice. Even if they weren’t on the best terms, he did want his coworker to relax a little and enjoy himself for a bit. And not eat garbage food.
He thought Gavin hated the place, had decided that the best course of action would be to leave and just grab him a burger or let Gavin just drop Nines off at his apartment. And now the guy didn’t want to leave? Nines didn’t know what to do anymore to make nice with him. It was frustrating as fuck, and Ranine, he just wanted to bang his head against a wall, but that would probably only make Gavin’s day and at the moment, Nines was embarrassed and pissed off and he didn’t want to give Gavin any reason to think that he’d managed to get to him.
It was petty, but until Nines could get home and purge the memories and data from the night from his drivers, he felt he had every right to just...save face and go. Maybe he’d shut off emotions for a bit too so he could relax a little before trying to deal with them. More trouble than they were worth sometimes.
“As you wish, Detective.” He didn’t need Gavin to drive him home anyway. A walk would do him a lot of good at the moment. He set his card on the table, still intending to let Gavin have a nice dinner for himself if the asshole didn't want to leave now, turned, and left.
