@ahyesthesufferingoftvteens I hope you like it!
Reeve hated Kai. Well not, really. Reeve actually just hated that he was pulled to the idiot and he didn’t know why.
Even though Reeve, Skeet, and Vanessa figured out this was a video game they needed to win, they still didn’t have any of their memories. So Reeve was drawn to Kai and couldn’t answer the questions how or why. So Reeve decided to just hate Kai to make it easier.
Especially because he asked Weirdy for help. LIKE WHAT THE HELL!
“You should know we don’t have control where he sends us!” Reeve yelled. He was about to use his power to throw Kai into the ice ocean.
“Reeve, stop!” Vanessa yelled “We REALLY need his help now. Skeet and I can look around for some help but you two need to stay together and stay warm.”
Vanessa and Skeet took off, leaving Reeve alone with Kai. Kai nervously looked between the ground and Reeve. He lit his hands on fire and carefully stepped closer.
“Look, I don’t want to fight.” Kai’s eyes lost any spark that was there in the desert. “Every time I’ve tried to help anyone since I woke up, it hasn’t worked. I rebuilt a spaceship and we crash, where Mira almost died! I fix a lighthouse to signal for help, and Weirdy shows up instead. I make a plan for us to escape when we were captured by the demon monks and Adam had to fight this really scary guy. If he didn’t have his crazy karate powers, he could have died. The only reason I still have friends is because they have freaky powers, NOT BECAUSE OF ME!”
Reeve didn’t know how to respond. Kai looked like he was on the verge of tears, all the events of the game getting to him. Reeve has been able to hold everything at arms length away because he knew it wasn’t real. But Kai was convince this was real life and he was crumbling.
Knowing he wasn’t good with words, Reeve did the next best thing. He pulled Kai into a big hug. Kai was stiff at first then relaxed into Reeve. Reeve could tell Kai was holding back tears then suddenly the damn broke. Kai sobbed into Reeve’s shoulder. Reeve just waited, holding Kai as he got everything out.
When Kai finally pulled away, Reeve was blessed with Skeet coming back.
“Guys! Vanessa found a bunker! She’s searching for winter gear,” Skeet showed them the way.
“Hey, Reeve…” Kai started.
“Don’t mention it” Reeve wanted it to come out intimidating but it slipped off his tongue sweetly.
Luckily Kai just nodded and followed. Reeve was grateful for the silence as they all walked to the bunker. Reeve needed a moment to figure out what just happened. Reeve knew he was drawn to Kai and behind that drawness were strong feelings. Reeve thought those were negative strong feelings but if they were, wouldn’t he had just let Kai deal with his shit on his own? WHY DID REEVE COMFORT HIM?
You know what? It doesn’t matter. Once they’re out of this game, everything should make sense. He’ll just deal with it then.
“There’s a whole bunch of winter jackets! Vanessa said when they walked in. They sprinted to the chest and threw on the big jackets. Reeve immediately felt warmer and better.
“Ok, now that we won’t die from freezing, what’s our next step?” Skeet asked.
“We need to find something that we can use as a boat or a plane.” Kai said. “Even if we find pieces, I can fix it so it’s use able.”
“I agree” Reeve said. Vanessa squinted and looked between Reeve and Kai.
“Fine, let’s go look.” Vanessa led the way out. Reeve followed close behind her, not wanting to get stuck by Kai.
“So did something happen with you and Reeve while Vanessa and I were gone?” Skeet whispered to Kai. Kai looked at the back of Reeve’s head.
Group just walked around almost aimlessly in the white desert, looking for… something.
“This is pointless!’ Vanessa said after an hour. “I’m going to fly to mainland and find something”
As Vanessa went to take off, Reeve grabbed her arm. “No! We have to stick together”
“No, I’m not” Reeve squinted his eyes at Vanessa. She huffed out a breath and backed down.
“Hey there’s an ice castle over there!” Skeet said “Maybe a nice king lives there or something!”
“Yeah! Maybe there’s something we can do for him and he’ll give us someway to travel back!” Kai started to run to the castle. Everyone took off. Once they came up to the castle, Kai suddenly stopped as the everyone else caught up.
“Come on!” Vanessa yelled as she sped pass. Vanessa and Skeet continued in but Reeve stopped. Kai was frozen in place just looking up at the castle.
“You good, man?” Reeve asked.
“Well, we’ll find out inside. Come on.” Reeve pulled Kai inside. Kai resisted little but followed Reeve in.
“Vanessa, Skeet!” Reeve yelled. Reeve and Kai weren’t able to find the other teammates. Reeve started to get scared.
“What happened to them?” Reeve was running around, screaming.
“Reeve I found them!” Kai yelled. Reeve ran into the room to see Kai melting a frozen Vanessa and Skeet. A monster was silently sneaking up on Kai.
“KAI!” Reeve sprinted over to Kai and was able to push him out of the way as the monster fired an attack. But Reeve wasn’t able to avoid it. Reeve was stuck in the ice. He heard Kai’s screams and tried to fight the ice but he lost consciousness quickly.
So, Reeve was out of the Hollow. He remembered why he was drawn to Kai. Kai was the boy he loved so much, Reeve couldn’t forget him. Reeve was packing up his stuff after the show when Kai approached him.
“Why did yo save me in the game? Not only were we competitors, but no memories you seemed to really hate me” Kai wasn’t able to bring him eyes to meet Reeve’s.
“I didn’t hate you in the Hollow. I…” Reeve said. He knew he was at a cross roads. Right now would is the perfect set up to tell Kai how he feels but was he brave enough to do it?
“You what?” Kai stepped little closer. He carefully brought his eyes up to Reeve’s. Reeve knew he could let Kai slip away.
“Kai, I loved you so much that I remembered I hate feelings for in the Hollow. I just didn’t know what those feelings were so I just pretended to purely hate you. It was easier”
Kai’s jaw dropped. “Is… Is that why you comforted me in the arctic place?”
Reeve nodded. “You were suffering and I couldn’t help it. I couldn’t let you carry that alone.”
They stood in silence. Reeve knew he had to let Kai process what Reeve just said but Kai and silence don’t usually do together so Reeve was stressing. When the silence passed the point of awkward, Reeve couldn’t handle the idea that Kai was probably trying to find a nice way to to reject him.
“Ok, well… I’m going to...”
Suddenly Kai was kissing Reeve. And Reeve didn’t know what to do. He got his senses back and lended into the kiss. Reeve felt tears forming. Kai pulled back.
“Thank god” Reeve said and kissed Kai again.
