In response to those who do not want their ideologies, what these ideologies stand on, or themselves to be questioned. I see SJWs and Republicans alike balking when a reevaluation or in depth questioning is pointed at something they hold dear. A cry I hear often (in America), from all sides of the political spectrum, is that the constitution should not be changed or challenged. That everything in the constitution has been placed there for an immovable and dire reason. This is generally said in response to an oppositions suggestion of an amendment etc.
All of us have avoided challenges of our ideologies at one point or other, and all of us should learn to embrace these challenges instead. The constitution, as a base for many american's ideologies, should be examined more thoroughly than most. It should be torn apart, so we can see what it's made of. Ideas for amending it should be endless, so that we can see if it has stood the test of time. We are afraid that when something we believe in is questioned, that it will lose it's value in the eyes of others. We dont realize that we end up lessening our own principles when we dont question or reevaluate at all. To not question/ reevaluate is to forget the initial worth of our principles/ideologies and what material they are based on in the first place. For it is only through periodical deep and genuine exploration of an idea, text, or otherwise that we can strengthen and expand our own principles/ideologies and gain new followers of the same thought. Keep in mind that with every controversy there are not just people who pile on the bandwagon of critique but also discover the opposite, supporting, view through the same passionate questioning. Fearlessly question what you believe, not only once but over and over, and allow others to do the same. Through challenge ideas can strengthen and grow, not only whither.
