Anxiety disorders are different for each person who has it so this is my personal guide to having social anxiety. you can take this guide as a learning experience or if your muse has social anxiety and you don’t.
please like/reblog if you find this helpful !
( TRIGGERS: mentions of anxiety, triggers & disorders )
this guide will include (in order): what social anxiety is, physical symptoms of anxiety, possible triggers and some facts. the guide will be under the cut
WHAT IS SOCIAL ANXIETY?
“ Social anxiety is the fear of social situations that involve interaction with other people.” -- source. Some people also have a fear of being judged by those around them and because of this, they will often avoid the social situation ( parties, events, going out in general, sometimes something as small as hanging out with friends ).
If you have any questions, I’d be more than happy to answer as someone who has social anxiety and a panic disorder.
POSSIBLE SYMPTOMS;
some symptoms of having social anxiey are:
* REMINDER. everyone is different and will likely experience different symptoms.
blushing / hot flashes
trembling or shaking / hands, arms, legs, etc
chest pains
panicky
stomach upset / nausea | a need to use the washroom frequently
difficulty or fast talking
shaky voice
muscle tension
cold, clammy hands
avoid making eye contact
POSSIBLE TRIGGERS;
fear of the unknown
being judged / laughed at / stared at
fear of being the center of attention
thinking that others will notice their anxious / awkward behaviour
worrying / overthinking
being around those they don’t know
being in crowds
fear of not having a way out of the situation
FACTS;
Social anxiety has many different forms. Some of which are more obvious than others. Anxiety can be very sneaky -- it can affect one’s ability to work, attend school and it can also sometimes affect one’s relationship with others.
anxiety and simply feeling nervous are very similar feelings and they often get mixed up
there are multiple different treatments for social (and any kind of) anxiety
‘getting social anxiety disorder after the age of 25 is rare’ -- source.
it’s also known as “social phobia”
‘people with social phobia tend to call in sick for work more often than people without a mental disorder’ -- source.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and learn about social anxiety ! I am by no means an expert & some of these statements are from websites. again, if you have any questions about social anxiety or anxiety in general, I would be open to answering pretty much anything :-)
colfersrps replied to your post:Is there a way to upload gifs and have them show...
There should be a little ‘loading’ animation at the top of a post when you upload a gif, if you wait for that to disappear before publishing a post and make sure the html is h t t p s : / / 3 1 . (no spaces, obviously) there’s no grey box! :)
Thank you very much, and for anyone still struggling with this, here is your answer!

Under the cut is a guide on HOW TO PLAY FINN HUDSON. I used mainly canon facts, but there's a bit of my own interpretation here and there. It most definitely doesn't need to be followed to a tee, but I hope it helps at least a little! Please like or reblog if you found this useful!
THE BASICS:
NAME: Finn Christopher Hudson.
AGE: At passing, Finn was nineteen years old. All we know for sure was that he was born in 1994, as seen on the plaques in The Quarterback. Although Glee Wiki states that he was born on August 24th of that year, I'm almost positive that this was never confirmed. (However, if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me!)
HEIGHT: 6'3" (190.5 cm).
HAIR COLOR: Brown.
EYE COLOR: Brown.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual
FAMILY: Christopher Hudson (father; deceased), Carole Hudson-Hummel (mother), Burt Hummel (step-father), Kurt Hummel (step-brother).
Although many people tend to focus on all of the bad things that Finn has done, he's actually a really great guy. Sure, he makes mistakes, but that just makes him human. Finn is a genuinely nice guy. He actually had some amazing character development throughout the four seasons he was in, starting from the stereotypical quarterback to a caring guy who puts everyone's needs before his own.
Finn truly cares about the people around him. He stands up for people when he can, and tries his hardest to keep them safe. He gives a lot of pep talks, especially in the later seasons (which I personally think he got from Mr. Schue) to try and give people the boost of confidence they need, in which he usually succeeds.
He does have anger issues, however, but it seems to take something big to anger him. He's seen kicking chairs or music stands before storming out of the room when he's upset. Cory had even tweeted about it, saying "Can Finn get angry WITHOUT kicking something? is the question." There were only two situations, that I can recall, where Finn's anger got violent towards people (the fight with Puck in Wheels and with Brody in Feud).
Because he's not the smartest guy ever, he doesn't tend to think before he speaks, and some things that he says can be offensive (most notably with the "faggy lamp" scene in Theatricality). He messes up a lot of words and sayings ("controllist" instead of "controlling," "personifying" instead of "objectifying," "the show's gotta go all over the place or something," etc.) when he speaks, and this is definitely something to think about when playing him. It definitely shouldn't be all the time, but here and there, it's a great thing to use to get into his voice.
Out of all the guys, I think Finn is one of the most (if not the most) insecure. He speaks, multiple times, about how he believes that his life has no direction. He doesn't think he's good enough to get into a school, and he feels like his dreams are worthless. He's not just insecure about his life, however; he's also really insecure about his body. In The Rocky Horror Glee Show, he literally walks down the school hallway in only his underwear, shoes, and a pair of glasses to be more comfortable in his role of Brad. During rehearsal, he mentions to Rachel that he wears a shirt to the pool and just tells everyone that it's because he burns easily because he doesn't want to admit that he's insecure about his body.
To quote Cory Monteith, Finn "walks a fine line between following his dreams and balancing what other people expect of him." In Pilot, he hides that he's in Glee Club from his friends, knowing they wouldn't approve. He's a genuinely nice guy, yet he was said to have thrown "pee balloons" at Kurt with the rest of the football squad. He also completely allowed Kurt (and possibly others, but this wasn't confirmed) to be thrown in the dumpster, standing and watching as it happened. He easily falls into peer pressure, wanting to fit into the popular crowd.
Personally, I think that Finn is an Aries, which would mean his birthday would fall somewhere between March 21 and April 20. It seems the most likely, in my opinion, based on personality descriptions and traits for the zodiac sign.
RELATIONSHIPS:
CAROLE HUDSON-HUMMEL: Finn is very close with his mother. Growing up, she played the role of both mother and father, as Finn's dad had passed away when he was young. He always tries his hardest to make his mother proud, no matter what it takes.
RACHEL BERRY: Simply put, Finn loves Rachel. He sees the best in her, but also realizes the worst. Even when they weren't together, their connection was strong. They had a very on-and-off relationship, but always found their way back to one another somehow. They were engaged for a bit, only not going through with the wedding in the end because Finn didn't want to hold Rachel back from her Broadway dreams. Ryan Murphy reported that he had the ending of Glee all planned out, his plans only changing due to Cory Monteith's untimely passing. “The ending of Glee is something I have never shared with anyone, but I always knew it. I’ve always relied on it as a source of comfort, a North Star,” said Murphy, 47, who will end the show after Season 6. "The very last line of dialogue was to be this: Rachel comes back to Ohio, fulfilled and yet not, and walks into Finn’s glee club. 'What are you doing here?' he would ask. 'I’m home,' she would reply. Fade out. The end,” the series co-creator said. Whether you ship Finchel or not, Rachel was very important to Finn, and if you're playing him in a canon situation, you really shouldn't disregard this relationship.
KURT HUMMEL: Towards the beginning of the series, all Kurt is to Finn is another kid that goes to his school. Kurt briefly had a crush on him in Season One, and it admittedly made Finn feel uncomfortable. As the series progressed, and his mother's relationship with Kurt's father progressed, the two became more comfortable around one another. In Furt, Finn referred to Kurt as his brother. From that point on, the two were really close, sticking up for one another and having a very close brotherly relationship.
NOAH PUCKERMAN: Puck and Finn were best friends before the series began. It's not clear exactly how long they've been friends, but it's been at least since high school began. They've had their fair share of fights (most notably over Quinn during her pregnancy), but they're best buddies for life. In The Quarterback, Puck asks "What chance do I have of not being an idiot and hurting people without him to remind me who I really am?" Finn is Puck's rock, and I think Puck is Finn's.
SANTANA LOPEZ: Santana and Finn's relationship was mostly stressed, but Finn truly does care about her. In I Kissed a Girl, he says "the truth is, I think you're awesome. And when you hide part of who you are, you hide your awesomeness with it," and in The Quarterback, Santana claims that while Finn was losing his virginity to her, he wouldn't stop asking if she was okay.
WILL SCHUESTER: Will is like the father that Finn never had. He claims he sees a lot of himself in Finn, who really looks up to him. He says in Journey to Regionals that before joining New Directions, he didn't have a father figure in his life. They become very close throughout the seasons, with Finn even becoming the best man at Will's wedding.
QUOTES:
Below are a few Finn quotes that can hopefully help you get into his voice.
"I'm almost halfway done with almost all of it, Mr. Schue." - Pilot
"I'm not afraid to be called a loser because I can accept that's what I am. But I am afraid of turning my back on something that actually made me happy for the first time in my sorry life." - Pilot
"Well, when I first joined, I thought you were kind of insane. I mean, you talk way more than you should and to be honest, I looked under the bed to see if you were hiding there. But...then I heard you sing and you touched something in me." - Showmance
"I don't buy that. I don't think any one decision makes your life unless you accidentally invent some kind of zombie virus or something." - Mash Up
"Mr. Schue, kids are busier than when you went here. We've got homework, and football, teen pregnancy... lunch." - Wheels
"I would've joined in with a kick-ass harmony, but the dude was naked." - Audition
"In glee club whenever two of us got together we got a nickname. Rachel and I are Finchel. Rachel and Puck were Puckleberry. And today a new union is formed: Furt. You and I, man. We’re brothers from another mother. " - Furt
"Kurt's been blackmailing me ever since he saw my browser history." - Blame it on the Alcohol
"In America, dudes don't ask other dudes to be friends. Except on Facebook. But even then it can take years." - Pot O' Gold
"Holy crap. I'm dating Kim Kardashian." - Extraordinary Merry Christmas
"I'd call my high school career a total success. I mean not in terms of grades and stuff, but I won a state title in football and a national championship in glee club and it turns out I never actually accidentally got anyone pregnant." - Goodbye
"You're kinda my moose." - Glease
"Relationships are a lot like flowers. If you find the right seed, put it in good soil, give it water and sunlight, bam. Perfect bud. And then comes winter and the flower dies. But if you tend that garden, spring will come along and that flower will bloom again." - I Do
"I've got the rest of my life to be a grown-up. For now, it's okay to be young." - Sweet Dreams

I highly suggest to read this guide, posted by fuckyeahroleplayadvice. It's on the basics of how to play males in general, and can definitely help you out while playing Finn! I hope that this helps!
As requested by anonymous, a simple guide (more accurately, a list of important plot points, so not too in depth), broken down by episode, to remember when auditioning/playing out a canon season five Rachel Berry!
Please keep in mind that this does reference both Finn Hudson and The Quarterback, and I skipped Previously Unaired Christmas as it's not 'canon' for this timeframe.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE/TINA IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS
Going through callbacks from her Funny Girl audition, Rachel is beginning to loose faith that she'll ever get the role of Fanny Brice after overhearing the director and actor for Nick discussing that she's not ready for such an iconic position. Santana gets her a job at the Starlight Diner with her boss, Gunther, and Rachel tries her hand at waitressing.
When Rupert shows up at the diner, Rachel dives a scene much like "I'm The Greatest Star" from Funny Girl, singing "A Hard Day's Night" with Santana before leaving to go home and help Blaine with the proposal.
Once they're back in New York, Rachel begins to look elsewhere for work in theater, stating that she's finally acknowledged that she's been special all along.
Rupert comes back to the diner, requesting Rachel as his waitress and informs her that she's landed the role of Fanny Brice. She celebrates in the loft with Kurt, Santana and Dani [Let It Be].
THE QUARTERBACK
A month after Finn's death, Rachel and Kurt come to Lima to help grieve with the rest of the Glee club at their sudden and inexplicable loss. Rachel sings a song for him [Make You Feel My Love] and brings a plaque to the choir room, stating that he was her person and that she'll always love him. [For specific details on this episode, please inquire off anon so that no one is triggered!]
A KATY OR A GAGA
When Kurt decides to make a band in order to achieve some sort of name for himself after Santana's commercial and Rachel's show, Rachel finds herself declining the join until the group is in need of a name and offers 'Pamela Lansbury' to them. She joins them and they rehearse in the loft. [Roar].
THE END OF TWERK
After faking out her director with a wig and saying she had a haircut, Rachel tells Kurt they need to live a little more. They end up going to get tattoos, drinking to psych themselves up.
Rachel tells Kurt she didn't get one after he freaks out about an error in his own, though later on it's shown that she did indeed have 'Finn' inscribed on her rib cage, just below her bust.
MOVIN' OUT
When Blaine and Sam visit to figure out what it is they'll do in New York when the time comes, Rachel takes it upon herself to help Sam find his way while Kurt deals with Blaine. Upon hearing that Sam has always dreamed of being a model, Rachel helps him put together a few headshots to head into an agency with.
There are a couple moments of 'tension' between the two, though nothing is acted upon and in the end, Sam and Blaine head back to Ohio with nothing more said about the pauses.
PUPPET MASTER
Pamela Lansbury books their first gig; however, no one shows up. At a band meeting afterwards, the group gets puppets of themselves from Blaine, and sing 'The Fox' together.
FRENEMIES
Rachel's diva-esque behavior is acting up once again, and this time the world seems to attempt to level her by having none other than Santana audition for her understudy.
Betrayed and hurt, the two begin fighting viciously, both at work and at home, culminating in a slap and Rachel deciding to move out of the apartment and away from Santana.
TRIO
After moving in with Elliot, the two sing a song with Rachel's permanent band set to follow her when she needs them.
She and Santana are still fighting, though resistance begins to show when Kurt, Dani and Elliot break up Pamela Lansbury to start their own band without the two girls.
They both show up at Callbacks to watch the new band perform, but nothing is resolved.
100
Rachel and everyone else go back to Lima to say goodbye to the glee club after their loss at Nationals, meeting up with old friends and old rivals. With Mercedes back from LA, the two have a classic diva-off to finally put to rest which of them is better.
Before the judging, however, Santana calls Rachel out in front of the entire glee club, causing Rachel to lash out and accuse Santana of being a horrible person before storming off to the bathroom to cry. Mercedes follows, and Rachel pours her heart out to the girl, causing the two to make up and decide it didn't matter who won in the end.
Mr. Schuester announces that it was a tie.
NEW DIRECTIONS
The end is near for the New Directions, and in the final week of glee club, she and Santana finally make up. Santana drops her part as understudy and while she says that it was purely for selfish reasons, the two agree to become friends once more, singing a duet in front of the glee club [Be Okay].
Once the glee club is disbanded, Rachel and all of the New Directions, both past and present, present a video for Mr. Schuester and his eventual child, stating what the glee club meant to them before performing 'Don't Stop Believin'' one final time at McKinley.
NEW NEW YORK
After a six month time jump from the previous episode, the opening for Funny Girl is coming nearer. After traveling around and re-staging the entire production, Rachel is given a town car to drive her around wherever she so desires.
However, it's constricting in her small world, and after Artie gets mugged on the subway, Rachel helps him overcome his fears by taking the subway with him, in order to keep her Fanny fresh and authentic, and to keep from losing herself too much in a world sure to be full of fame and celebrity.
