Hi! I’m learning German and I’ve decided to learn 10 new words every day. I’ll try to post them here daily, with some examples to see the words in context :)
1. die Berufung, -en - calling
Fahrer ist nicht meine wahre Berufung. Ich hasse Autos! // Being a driver is not my true calling. I hate cars!
2. in etw. hineinschnuppern - to give smth a try, to get a taste of smth

3. schuften - to slave away
Ich schufte jeden Tag, um ein hohes Einkommen zu haben. // I slave away every day for a high income.
4. empfinden - to feel, perceive
Leider empfinden das viele Menschen ganz anders. // Unfortunately, many people do not feel this way.
5. Stress abbauen - to relieve stress
Ich treibe Sport, um Stress abzubauen. // I exercise to relieve stress.
6. unerträglich - unbearable
Es ist 32 Grad, die Hitze ist unerträglich. // It’s 32 degrees, the heat is unbearable.
7. zittern - to shake, tremble
Als ich sie sah, meine Hände zitterte. // As I saw her, my hands began to shake.
8. die Pflicht, -en - duty, obligation
Es ist unsere Pflicht, die Kinder zu schützen. // It’s our duty to protect the children.
9. ausloten - to explore (options, ideas etc.)
Ich möchte alle Möglichen ausloten, bevor ich eine Entscheidung treffe. // I want to explore every possibility before I make a decision.
10. steigen - to rise, go up, head higher
Trotzdem wird die Inflation im kommenden Jahr steigen. // Nonetheless, inflation will head higher in the year ahead.
