The world's only cybernetic watch, the Longines reference 8483 in solid 18k gold. This particular example is near NOS with a little bit of age related patina on the gold. To put this into perspective properly, this watch was high tech luxury when it was introduced and cost more than most other watches at the time. It was the first announced production quartz watch (August of 1969) beating both the Seiko Astron and Beta 21. @grail_watch has an excellent history of the movement here (https://reference.grail-watch.com/movement/longines-6512/) . Outside of the incredible and historically important movement, the actual watch is an exceptional design from an era full of exceptional designs. The oversized cushion with sunburst finish and wide flared high polished bevels is a knockout and a ton of gold to boot (weighs over 100 grams!). But the real point of focus is the dial with the sculptural markers that appear to float above the dial with the seconds hand passing below which was and still is something very special. All of Longines technical and creative power went into making this amazing watch and it shows. #longines #vintagelongines #earlyquartz #cybernetic #ref8483 #cal6512 #ultraquartz #1970s #solidgold18k #yellowgold #floatingmarkers #rarewatch #oversized #cushioncase #tritium #watch #watches #watchfam https://www.instagram.com/p/CVnv8ler3Hf/?utm_medium=tumblr
