Okay, so in my travels across the interwebs I found a great website-the International Dialects of English Archive (IDEA). This website has audio recordings of any accent you can imagine, along with information like the age and residence of the speakers. I've used it for writing, doing accents, and even just goofing around on in my spare time. Hope you guys can use it!
Okay, does anyone have any good reference websites?
Specifically for the 1940's? Most of the books and websites I've been looking at focus on the military aspect of it all, and while that's a key thing, I'm trying to figure out what it was like back home for the folks. Especially the aftermath of the war. I'm looking for everything - hair styles, clothing, telephones, activities, slang, etcetcetc.
Can anyone help?
