So Refinedtale was born! (and refined, if you will huhuhu)
It's a post pacifist route where Asriel is alive, Chara is alive, Frisk is alive and Gaster came back from the void.

Gaster is a dripping mess who seems like a lifeless doll and the bone brothers are extremely stressed with their new lives and weird father (especially Sans)

I specifically wanted to respond to this because I’ve always been secretly embarrassed by HOW MUCH I add at the end of my posts!
The thing is.. I usually put a lot of thought into the scenario or story behind my drawings. So when I post them, I really want to tell the story I built behind it! Cuz usually that’s the longest/hardest part! Is making the story!
I always try to make them as short a possible, but sometimes they just drag on and on.. and I think, “Aw common, nobody’s gonna read those huge blocks of text under a pic if Gaster eating a dandelion”
But seeing this? I really made me feel a lot better about all those paragraphs I write. And it encourages me to.. well, maybe not make them longer, but to at least keep them up. :} It felt super cool to read those tags you wrote, so.. thank you. Thank you very much <:}}} ❤

I am just as confused as you pal.
Like seriously, I am the only artist I know that doesn't like it, and actively discourages people from drawing my things. I don't even let FRIENDS draw my stuff. If I knew the core reason why I don’t like fanart of my work so much, I would try to work through it. But I don’t know why it bothers me so much.
When people draw fanart for other artists, the artists always seem so happy and flattered. But when someone draws something of mine my heart instantly drops and I get all nervous.
Like??? I LITERALLY DO NOT GET IT. Your guess is as good as mine. When I see fan art of my ideas/characters/AU/whatever, I don’t ever go “:0! Wow! Someone drew fanart for me! :D What a wonderful gift! They put so much effort into this because they like what I make!”
Instead, every fiber if my being just goes “....Oh.. so they just,, took my stuff and drew it without my permission?.. Okay...” Even one time when I gave my buddies permission to draw my stuff, I still didn’t like the feeling it gave me. Maybe that’s the problem? Maybe my heart just sees it as theft. Maybe Its like, I cant look at it as a gift, maybe I always see it as someone taking my ideas, and drawing them how ever they like.
It must be that I cant not feel like its theft??? I genuinely don’t know why its like this and I KNOW that fanart isn’t theft and I KNOW basically every single artist on planet earth likes it but for some reason I just DONT
Its like I’m a hoarder. Its like I want to keep EEEVERYTHING to myself, MY ideas, MY AU, MY characters. Only I can draw them >:{ !!!
It must be something stupid like that. And believe me, if I could stop feeling like such a big baby when it came to fanart? I would stop. I understand that fanart is supposed to be a dang compliment to the artist and that I’M the weird one for having it bug me so much. But heck if I know why that happens or how to fix it.

Everyone took Bonnie’s decommission pretty hard, especially Freddy. Because the two of them were like brothers..
With Foxy, they all knew that he wasn’t taken off stage due to suffering damage. So they lived through his absence with a bit of peace and hope, thinking that he could be still alive and okay out there somewhere..
But with Bonnie, they heard what had happened. They knew that he got hurt real bad. And when he never came back from repairs, they all believed the worst had happened..
As to Foxy’s reaction to Bonnie’s absence? Well, when I’m finally over the recovery stage of this flu, I plan to draw something for that..
Haha, while I’m glad you like it, I’m still in the process making it! <XD So I hope the aspects that you like will stick around even through the rewriting process..
As for how I made it? To make it short..
When I got into Undertale a long time ago.. I thought the story with Chara, Gaster and Asriel was really sad. I ended up wanted to make an AU where they were brought back and everything was sunshine and rainbows. So I did. The AU was really stupid and made absolutely no sense looking back..
But then years later here I am thinking about that AU again. I liked the idea of the AU, the “ultimate happy ending timeline”.. So I decided to dig the AU back up and try to make it work.
I’m still in the process of writing out a complete timeline with timeframes, dates, explanations and more.
But its going uh... very poorly so far 😅
And the whole time Foxy’s just there like;

They would get along pretty well. But I can imagine that Freddy would have a hard time understanding that Captain Barnacles is in fact, not an animatronic.
The only things that walk and talk in Freddy’s world are humans and robots that were built to act like humans. There is no organic animal on earth that can do what humans do.
So to be told that the Captain is in fact a Polar bear, and that no, Humans did not build him and that he doesn’t even know what Humans are.. would be pretty shocking to say the least.
I’ve never seen Hamilton.. but judging by what you’ve told me here, it would be very fitting! :0

Haven’t fully thought that part out yet.
But here’s the thing, I’ve been working on Refinedtale on the side and have been trying my best to construct a solid timeline for it. In that time I have also thought about Gaster and how he’s brought back and stuff. But its all just ideas, so I cant tell you the 100% canon way Gaster comes back because I haven’t made that part yet.. but I can tell you the leading idea that miiiiight stick.
What I’m thinking is, Frisk, Chara and Asriel do the bippity boppity boo with timeline stuff and are able to collect all the missing pieces of Gaster’s soul from his followers who are attached to them, (there’s like.. 5 or 6 pieces or something) They reassemble his soul and then pull Gaster out of the void.
There’s this idea I’ve got that the kids didn’t know that Gaster was the skelebros “dad”. All they knew was that Sans probably used to work with him and that he needed rescuing. They also thought that if they reassembled his soul, he would go back to “normal” in a way. So when he came back looking like an amalgamate they were pretty surprised and disappointed..
They were kind’a hoping he would come back and give them info on his family and stuff. But without him being responsive they didn’t know what else to do.. they ended up bringing him to the skelebros place because they at least knew that Sans used to know him.
When the bros first see him, there’s mixed reactions. Papyrus doesn’t remember Gaster at all, and is mostly just kind’a spooked by this strange goopy man at their door step..
Meanwhile Sans is in complete shock. There’s so much to process, Gaster is here, he’s back, he’s alive, but his soul is broken and his body is a complete wreck. Gaster is horrifically deformed, and completely unresponsive to the world around him. Sans eventually completely breaks down after the initial shock. He’s inconsolable. Everyone around him vanishes as he tries to communicate with Gaster. He’s getting more and more upset the longer Gaster doesn’t respond..
Due to them not knowing Gaster’s true relation to the brothers, they definitely didn’t expect Sans break down like that..
I’m still working on the timeline and I haven’t even gotten to the part where the core is built yet. But I’m getting there.. and for now this is all I’ve got to explain how Gaster came back and how the bros reacted.. 😅

Not to rain on the little STAFF bot’s fantasy but seeing a bot like that trying to be a big shot performer in pursuit of Foxy would be hilarious to watch XD
Ever since Papyrus was made he’s had this.. “weird biological glitch”, as Gaster called it.
His eyes would glow bright white and he would space out really hard for seemingly no reason. Sometimes it was just for a moment, one time it almost lasted an hour. It never used to be anything to worry about though, because it happened for no concernable reason, never lasted longer than a few minutes and he was always completely fine after.
..But.. one day, when Papyrus was about 7 years old.. something horrible happened to Sans, which mentally scarred Papyrus. It was a soul shattering experience, and it completely changed how these strange blank outs work and why they happen. Now a days if Papyrus is stressed out, or ill, or just tired in general.. He can have these weird breakdowns where he just.. spaces out and silently panics. His hands usually glow green as he desperately tries to heal his dying brother.. who usually isn’t even in the same room when this happens..
This particular breakdown was started when, while being completely exhausted, Papyrus stumbled a little and dropped a plate. When he went to clean it up.. he saw the white shards scattered on the floor and.. everything went white.
Sans used to think he knew what exhaustion felt like, but that was before he moved to the surface.
The stress he’s been dealing with up here is unlike anything he’s ever dealt with before. Everything from his back breaking jobs, to Papyrus’ wellbeing, to Gaster’s return and his recovery.. there’s just so much to process, so much he has to do.. He tries his best to keep going and keep that smile on his face.. but its getting to be impossible. And one night, Sans came home after a horrible day at work and.. it was impossible.
He’s usually able to find the energy after work to spend a little time with his family. But he just couldn't do it tonight. He walked right past Papyrus, right past Gaster and went straight to his room. He sat down on his bed feeling completely drained. He was so overcome with all this stress and exhaustion that he felt like he was going to dust. He tried to silently sort through his thoughts but it was just.. too much.
As he’s sitting there, Sans notices movement in front of him. He blinks and focus’s just enough to register that Papyrus is now sitting in front of him. He expected Papyrus to say something.. but he didn’t. Papyrus knows Sans better than anyone. He didn’t have to ask, he already knows what’s wrong and what he needs to do. Sans is overwhelmed, and what he needs is for everything to just stop. Stop moving, stop touching him, stop making noise. Just.. stop.
But what he doesn’t need is to be alone. So Papyrus doesn’t touch him, he doesn’t speak or move. All he does is sit there in silence and keeps Sans company until the fog clears and he’s able to pull himself back together.
This is about the underdeveloped concept of Sans and Alphys’ broken friendship in my AU. Its still a work in progress.. but so far my idea is that Alphys and Sans were Gaster’s lab assistants a long time ago. And actually, they were really good friends.. best friends, even.
..But.. when Gaster fell, and everyone’s memories of him were wiped.. everything changed. Over the span of a couple days Sans started to mentally break down hard. He was talking about a machine, a person, someone that was lost. Nobody believed him, nobody knew who he was talking about. After everyone doubted him, he finally snapped, he up and quit his job and vanished. He cut himself off from the lab and stopped talking to Alphys. A few days later some tools, machinery and blueprints disappeared.
Alphys was so heart broken. Sans was Alphys’ best, and only friend. And although she knew that something had happened to Sans.. she was still really upset that he just cut her off like that. Her self-esteem definitely took a hit.. Alphys was hurt by it for a long time.. all up until Gaster was finally was rescued. Sans would bring Gaster to Alphys for soul check ups.. and one time they started talking. Sans finally broke and explained in full detail what really happened back then. He apologized for completely ditching Alphys, and asked if there was anything he could do to make it up to her. This whole thing between them was so confusing, and it hurt for a long time. But in the end? All she wanted was to be friends again.
Again, this AU needs SO. MUCH. WORK. Especially with the structure of the timeline and stuff like this. The idea of their mended friendship will most likely stick.. but everything is subject to change. :/
As you’ve probably already guessed, this is just a hypothetical scenario. Its uh, not cannon to Refinedtale.. (yet) 😅
This is Frisk. The story here is that one day Papyrus got sick very suddenly and totally crashed. He was so tired that he couldn't get out of bed. This was particularly concerning because at this point, Gaster has just started becoming very curious about the world around him and has wandered away from the house a few times already. Basically, It was very important that someone keeps an eye on Gaster 24/7, and Papyrus suddenly couldn’t do it.
Sans was stuck at work and wouldn’t be home until late into the night. He called Toriel for help but she had an important meeting the next day and couldn’t make it. But Frisk, Chara and Asriel didn’t have school tomorrow and wanted to help. So Toriel quickly dropped them off at the bros house to watch over Papyrus, the Dog, and most importantly, Gaster, until Sans came home.
That’s when this whole thing goes down.. Frisk had gone down stairs to make Papyrus a sandwich when she absent mindedly picked up a knife. When she realized what she grabbed, she just froze instead of dropping it. My version of Frisk so far in cannon has committed at least one genocide route. She now has this weird thing about knives, she cant hold one without breaking out in a cold sweat.
She stood there silently.. just.. spacing out really hard and remembering all those horrible things she did. All the dust, all the people she killed, all the monsters who viscously fought back.. In the midst of her spacing out, a tall figure grabbed her shoulder. She freaked out and.. just.. well she didn't know what she did. She was just startled and moved on her own without thinking. Still in the fog of what happened back then. By the time she snapped out of it, it was too late.
