If Jude Shuma’s new single were any more laidback, it’d be horizontal.
The lo-fi fizz of ‘Lemonade’ is a breezy anthem tailor-made for long, lazy summer days that sees swooning harmonies drift across a sleepy kick drum rhythm and sunburnt guitar plucks, kinda like if Cornershop’s ‘Brimful of Asha’ went chillwave.
Not that the Chicago singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist’s career so far has been as lo-fi as his tunes. As well as releasing the critically-acclaimed EPs Afternoonified, Biggest Hits, and Insomnium, he’s also managed to get his music heard on some of your favourite shows, including Ballers, Riverdale, and Quantico. Too bad The O.C. isn’t on still, ‘Lemonade’ would be perfect for it... #californiaherewecome
‘Lemonade’ is from Jude Shuma’s upcoming EP, Reflection, out September 22.
