UNIT 9: Current and Future Trends of Media and Information

I learned that the of citizens ' daily life, technology has become an important part; most people rely on technology to make their work easier, either personal or working-related. Today, technology seems to keep growing with the passing of time. Technology experts are currently discovering the strength of the virtual reality, artichoke, holography, interactive images.

Haptics technology a type of technology in which the user's sensation of touch is used for many purposes to feel power, vibrations or movements. In video games, films and virtual arts, Haptics technology is used most frequently, such as sound synthesis and graphical design and animation.

Context awareness or contextual responsiveness gathers user information and predicts or anticipates user needs based on such choices. For example, a user enters every day the same path to work and, because he has sensed the traffic jams on the route usually taken, the user is advised to leave earlier than his usual time or follow a different road.

Some technologies (e.g. ordering a smart telephone to carry out a certain task, confirming the identity of an individual, etc.) currently use voice recognition. The technology for voice AND tone recognition can be used to recognize the health or feeling of the user. In the area of safety and health care this technology can be useful.

This future technology is going to be useful for those who are always on the move. Smart routing, for example, can provide a place only by capturing a photo of the street or describing it using smart phones and GPS or the global positioning system. Smart routing can be useful to people in disaster response teams or warn the authorities in the event of unexpected incidents.

Eye tracking refers to a form of technology that analyzes a person's movements or positions by machine. Eye tracking is commonly used in some organizations to identify or confirm your identity.

Internet brass refers to the currently developed technology, which directly shows visuals on the eyes that do not block one's sight. In the case of eyeglasses, Internet glasses can be used or even replacing smart phones for e-gaming and military defense.

What social application have you encountered? Was it appealing for you? In what form did this application take?

   The social application I’ve encountered that was appealing for me was Twitter and until now I still love twitter.  It’s my favorite social application because it’s different from the social applications I am using. Although it has fewer features but I still love how I can express everything through Twitter without receiving any criticism. I also use twitter for updates: in my surroundings, kpop, music, fashion, food and etc. It is also a help for me to stalk someone, or should I say to know more about someone. By the use of Twitter, you can tweet freely without thinking others. But, of course, you should learn to control yourself in tweeting.

After knowing and familiarizing with all these tools, evaluate and rate yourself from 1-10 (with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest) based on your proficiency and efficiency in using these tools. How can you use these tools better and more efficiently?

  These tools are very useful for editing. The quantity and quality of these tools make it more efficient and easy to use. Though, it may be confusing but once you learn using it, you'll get used to it.

  Anyway, I would rate myself "8" because I am already familiar with these tools since I am always using photo editors especially Photoshop. Before, I was not good at using these tools because I was only using online photo editors which have simple tools.Whenever I use photo editors, I didn't know the purpose of each. But now that I've learned about it more, I understood its uses and purposes.

  Moreover, we should familiarize ourselves with tools. For me, I can use these tools better and more efficiently by knowing more about them. I knew their names but not their purposes. After that, I will apply what I've learned through editing. I will use these tools correctly and appropriately. With that, I can make my editing skills better.

I rate myself 8 because even if I know how to use the tools I can't just say that it is easy to use because even me myself have a hard time in using those tools at first. You need to remember all the tools so that you will not be confuse on where you will be using the said tool.
