Wild, Intense, Reformatting Underway... Knocked Me Straight Out!!
Wild, Intense, Reformatting Underway… Knocked Me Straight Out!!
Holy Moley Batman!! I think I got fried yesterday doing readings. As soon as my last reading was over… having brought my vacuum out to the living room (that was where my intentions were, house cleaning) parked it next to the couch, laid myself on the couch, closed my eyes at 2:30, opened them back up at 7! I don’t know what the hell happened thru that time, but my throat hurt like hell, even…

I feel smart :3
I’m not usually all that great with computer knowledge…but, I’ve been meaning to reformat my computer lately and u just made a hard drive on my laptop and an copying all my important things to it. Yay! I did it even without Andrews help. But that’s only step one. Step two us to restore it to the factory mode and step three will be to put my important stuff back on it. Wish me luck!
The Reformating Reminder
The gist of what happen is this: an automatic update with a bad driver caused my laptop to not boot up properly. Besides facing the possibility of extreme internet withdrawal, I faced another harsh reality: I might lose all the music on said laptop.
Coming to terms with the fact that I have become an unapologetic collector of music since I was about 12, I would say that I have garnered a sizable and rather diverse array of songs, sound clips, recordings, mixed media, and midi files (from when I was going through this weird video game music phase). Now, I’m no newbie when it comes to technological safekeeping, so I backed up my data files through the proper channels (or at least what I have considered proper over the years). But when faced with having to reformat and restore, I quickly thought of those files as children and I quickly became Helen Lovejoy (“Won’t someone please think of the children?”). I figuratively rushed my children out of the building and gave the go-ahead to demolish the building with the wrecking ball.
After getting my laptop back to its original form, I noticed that I had this kind of blank slate going forward. That meant that all the data that I whisked away could now be transferred back. However, before I began to create a new folder, transfer the files back, and walk in the brand-new house with mud on my sneakers, I stopped at the door started to look at this whole process as a way to re-evaluate aspects that we overlook sometimes.
1. I was a little upset that I had to go through this whole process because it would take more effort than I expected to fix it and get back on track. I had become a little set in my ways when it came to my laptop. I turned it on and expected everything to be functioning properly when I did so. The thought that it might not work out like that was somewhere in the back of my mind. I think that is the way the life is: no matter how much you plan for something, you cannot always anticipate when something will go wrong. All you can do is pick yourself up, brush yourself off, start building again, and expect for the best.
2. While I still contend that it was a faulty driver that I had to download from a vendor (you know who I’m talking about), I was just carelessly loading my laptop and external drives with useless junk since I’ve had them. In a way, it’s something that we do every day to ourselves without even thinking about it. Whether negativity, worry, pain, or anger we tend to let these things collect and stack up on the selves over time without getting rid of them or addressing them as necessary. Though I am more than knowledgeable in the saying “it’s easier said than done”; sometimes, it’s good to take a look at what you have, treasure what you truly value, and get rid of the things you don’t need.
Moving forward to that affect, I am pretty much going through each file, correcting errors where I can, and tossing the ones that are junk. Along the way, I find that I am re-discovering all of this music that has put a smile on my face, made me think, and defined many of life’s moments for me. And to me, that brand-new(ish) feeling of discovery is the absolute best part of listening to music...or anything really.
