This one's called Salamanca Castanets.
Yeh.
This one was the first one I did, so it's a bit more detailed (before I realised simplifying was probably a good way to go since they were going to be shrunk anyway...) Eh.
:D
A masquerade at the Pantheon in Oxford Street, London circa 1809 from The Microcosm of London (1809)
Drew some dance cards for a Victorian ball recently, (we did regency dances rather than Victorian dances, think Pride and Prejudice era-). The costumes are as period accurate as I could be bothered to research. The Victorian era covers a decent chunk of fashion fluctuation, going from 1837 all the way to 1901 meaning the dresses change from off the shoulder sleeves with very full skirts, to bustles, then puffed sleeves in the late 1800s, while the men’s outfits basically stay the same.
These are kind of jokes based around the specific dances, or my having fun with the names. From the top, the dances are:
Chapelliose- this dance involves walking backwards and has a lot of accidental stepping on people’s feet, the less space you have the more this happens-
The King of Poland- very fast. But you really need to know the steps if you’re couple one. Couple two has several beats just standing around, hence couple two gossiping while couple one is rushing to keep up.
Hole in the Wall- I think the picture for this one is self-explanatory
Red and all Red- a lot of going around in circles, though fairly sedate overall.

I’m probalby going to the wedding of one of my hardest friend-breakup former besties who is mildly toxic and has basically ignored me for five years
But I’m about to become a very forgiving person because it’s castle themed dang it and I’ve got medieval stuff that needs wearing
The Spa Rout Ball, Royal Leamington Spa
The Assembly Room, Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa.
Possibly my biggest gig to date, playing with Mr Sayers Players for the inaugural Spa Rout Ball, organised by the Rout Regency dancers of Eathorpe, Warwickshire, March 2016.
Over ninety attendees helped make the evening a joyous, successful occasion. The frocks flounced, the footwork was fanciful and the spa water flowed!
MSP Stage presence!
The young Queen Victoria's visit overshadows memory of earlier royal visitors. This late Georgian Spa town has entertained both extremes of society: Prinny (The Prince Regent) in 1809 en route to...
