June used to be considered wedding season, but as more and more people host their nuptials outdoors, the fall has taken summers place as the hottest season to say “I Do.”
Here in South Florida, we spearheaded this trend, with our brides and grooms understanding that a summer wedding meant we were stuck indoors and unable to show off the natural beauty of Florida. For us, it’s always been about the fall and as this season approaches, here are a few ways to make your wedding the perfect Florida event.

The best part about getting married in the fall is the ability to host your wedding outdoors. Sure, it may still be hot out, but the likelihood of it being too steamy to enjoy a gorgeous affair by the beach or to take photos on a rooftop are low. Just beware: the fall in Florida marks the end of the brutal summer, but it’s also the start of hurricane season, so always have a backup plan if you have your wedding day outside!
Instead of making all your guests sit on uncomfortable chairs all night, why not add a lounge section with comfy couches for them to sit and enjoy? Incorporate different types of entertainment, have a funky late-night snack to give the guests as they leave, or create a new tradition that will be unique to your family. Whatever you do, try to do something that will ensure people remember your wedding for years to come.

If you’re using the beach or the natural landscape as a background, consider keeping the rest of your décor neutral. If the event will be indoors, embrace color in your flowers and keep the rest of it white to ensure those colors pop. If you love color, consider adding it into your chairs, your wedding party attire or even your own gown.
Lighting is such an important part of a wedding, yet it’s something many people forget to do. Specifically, for outdoor weddings you will need to make sure that your wedding will be lit appropriately once the sun goes down. Hire an event company that is well-known for their lighting ability so you don’t have to worry about your event going dark before the party stops.

Your wedding day should be a celebration. No matter how you choose to have your ceremony, make your reception a party by hiring a band or DJ, going over their setlist beforehand and making sure all your guests have fun, from young to old. Encourage your guests to stay on the dance floor by limiting speeches or opting for a buffet-style dinner.
