HI GUYS I know this is a platform a lot of people don’t use much anymore, or at least I don’t notice a lot of traffic on it anymore, but I’m gonna give it a shot anyway. Recently, Regeneration Who, which is a Doctor Who specific convention I’ve been doing for the past 5 years, cancelled and closed up shop 6 days before it was supposed to happen without any warning. I’ve been making art for them for their promotional stuff, commission stuff that attendees order in advance to the show, and so on for all that time including this year, literally up to the minute I heard from them that they were cancelling the show. As you can imagine, having a big show cancelled when you’ve already done a bunch of work for it, is really shitty. It’s shitty because you’ve put a lot of work into it, it’s shitty because now I don’t see how I’m going to get paid for artwork I did and the time spent making all this stock. It’s shitty because the substitute teacher who was going to take my place last Friday is now out of a job. It is a domino effect that causes a lot of harm to a lot of people in small insidious ways, or big scary ways. SO, the short version is, if you’ve been following this blog for any amount of time, if you’ve liked what you’ve seen in terms of the art I make, may I please ask for you are unable to buy something off of my Etsy, but to at least reblog this post? Between pre-order sales and promotion artwork I did for this con, and the sales I am missing out on by the show being suddenly cancelled, I’m out about $3000, which is a huge financial blow. Teachers don’t make much money. Artists don’t make much money. Between both careers, I just squeak by. My Etsy shop: etsy.com/shop/eattoast Other artists and vendors are in the same situation I am in. Please consider visiting this online group that was put together by some hard working vendors who made an online hub for all the vendors and artists suddenly out a big show: http://www.facebook.com/groups/regeneratingart/
