The Future of Sustainability 2020
Forum for the future released the first version of the map that brought together the key tipping points and feedback dynamics that were identified for the decade ahead to 2030, from the perspective of change-makers largely based in the Global North who are trying to enable shifts in global systems. It is necessarily partial. The map is onto a multilevel perspective from the point of view of the present moment, but looking ahead across the decade.
The map explores the highly dynamic areas ahead of us and how they are set to influence the way the world works over the next 10 years.
It has also evolved to become an ongoing and collaborative futures inquiry we are running with our partners, supporting them to navigate, understand and make sense of our fast changing world, through conversation and shared exploration.
Crucially, it will provide key insights to people and organisations on how they can respond to these dynamic areas in ways that embrace complexity and have the potential to deliver truly transformational solutions.
We are all players in the future, not passive observers, and our ability to shape the outcomes in these dynamic areas is strongly affected by the narratives we use, and the choices we make today.
