Bittersweet, also commonly known as the Woody Nightshade (Solanum dulcamara), bearing fruits to sustain birds in the colder months of autumn and the fast approaching winter.

Sacred Bamboo in London

This seem to be the Sacred Bamboo, also known as the heavenly bamboo (Nandina domestica), bearing fruits in winter along the Regent's Canal. Native to Eastern Asia but apparently widely grown here.

Soleil d'Or

A providential supply of food for birds and other wildlife in autumn and winter, the Pyracantha coccinea 'Soleil d'Or' or Yellow Firethorn can now be seen loaded with plenty of berries along the Regent's Canal.

However, its seeds are said to contain small amounts of cyanogenic glycosides, and the ingestion of which releases hydrogen cyanide that can apparently give us symptoms like headache, dizziness, and muscle weakness when consumed in large quantities. High exposure can also be fatal.

Winter Heads

A black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) joining its buddies on the roof of a building along the Regent's Canal. This was apparently their winter plumage. Their heads would otherwise be dark brown or black.
