Complete line-up 41st annual Reggae Geel
The 41st edition of the annual Reggae Geel festival is going to take place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 August. After having disclosed a number of names in April, the line-up is now complete with a great mix of roots, reggae, dancehall, old and young artists, afrobeat, sound systems and classic reggae. REGGAE GEEL : COME & CATCH A VIBE! On Thursday August 1, there's a free Pre-Party where you are treated to a real nice warm-up by Belgian sound systems Roots Dynamite, Bong Productions (from Geel) and Reggae Geel resident Sugar Charly. Friday is the official opening of the festival bringing on stage the earlier announced KRANIUM, PABLO GAD, THE CONGOS w/ PURA VIDA, BUSHMAN, I WAYNE, AGENT SASCO (AKA ASSASSIN) and headliner BUSY SIGNAL. They will be joined by THE TENNORS, THE SPELLBREAKERS, INTENSIFIED and ROCKERS JAMAICA. Regarding the latter... This year signifies the 40th birthday of the movie ‘Rockers’, about this group of talented Jamaican artists. That’s why Big Youth, Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace, Kiddus I, Bernard Collins (from the Abyssinians), KushArt Group, and Lloyd Parks & We The People Band will perform the movie’s soundtrack live for the very first time ever. With Reggae classic songs as "Fade Away", "Tenement Yard", "We A Rockers" amongst others, this is going to be the goosebump-moment of Reggae Geel 2019. If you’ve never seen it, make sure to watch this magnificent cult movie out of 1979 before you come to the festival. Also on Friday: Japanese soundsystem YARD BEAT, WARRIOR SOUND INTERNATIONAL, HIGH GRADE SOUND, KIBIR LA AMLAK & MESSENGER DOUGLAS, DJ MADBWOY, KEETY ROOTS, YOUTH & TRUTH SOUNDSYSTEM. DR KITCH, ROOTS PRESSURE, SERENDIPITY MOBILE SOUNDSYSTEM and BANGARANG SOUND STATION. On Saturday, popular afrobeat artist BURNA BOY, Queen of Reggae MARCIA GRIFFITHS, HALF PINT, RANDY VALENTINE and King of Dancehall BEENIE MAN complete the line-up at the Mainstage, which furthermore consists of the already announced RICHIE SPICE, KUMAR, ROOTZ UNDERGROUND, and headliner BUJU BANTON. Complete line-up 40th annual Reggae Geel
The annual Reggae Geel festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 August. After having disclosed a number of names in April, the line-up is now completed with the unveiling of the names of the other artists that are going to grace the different stages. REGGAE GEEL : 40 YEARS! 40 ANS! 40 AÑOS! 40 JAHREN! On Friday CHEZIDEK is opening the festivities on the Main Stage. That same day two dancehall stars from the '80s will also be on stage: YELLOWMAN and BARRINGTON LEVY. Earlier we announced HAVANA MEETS KINGSTON, ROMAIN VIRGO and SHABBA RANKS. On Saturday HORACE ANDY – known for his long collaboration with Massive Attack - and JOHHNY CLARKE complete the line-up. Other icons on the Main Stage are ANTHONY B, SLY & ROBBIE (who are bringing BITTY McLEAN and JOHNNY OSBOURNE along), COCOA TEA, PROTOJE, ETANA, SAMORY-I, KABAKA PYRAMID, STONEBWOY, and many others. Hosts for the Main Stage are none other than actors/musicians The Nomaddz. In the 18" Corner you can witness Jah Tubby’ s World System’s ultra-long dub session and on Saturday Black Board Jungle’s. LEE 'SCRATCH' PERRY, MAD PROFESSOR and JAH SHAKA close the night in the famous dub forest on Saturday. The Skaville: David Katz and Ras Digby are taking you all the way back to the London of the 1960s’ and 70s’. On Saturday PAT KELLY & the Magic Touch will be responsible for the accelerated wear on the soles of your favourite Doc Martens. The final notes in this quintessential party tent will be played by Wassie One. Bounce Dancehall: SPICE. Warrior Sound International from Wuppertal and Saxon Sound System from London are two European top sounds and female multitalented Becca D is coming to prove that she’s earned her spot as an MTV UK face. Freddie Krueger will turn the heat up so much that the tent might turn into a hot air balloon. The Belgian colours are defended by Team Damp, Uphill Sound and Beatstreet Sound.
