jia tolentino's book rly exemplifies how a lot of the issues ppl bitch abt today were prevalent in the 2010s. ppl didn't universally have their shit together re: feminism back then either and i think ppl who think otherwise should read this essay collection for a refresher(/primer if you were genuinely never exposed to some of these ideas she discusses)
In another universe I am friends w this man bc wym he's a fan of Dutch Wonderland and the bitrans episode of Boy Meets World ???
rereading the judy blume fudge books w a peter/jimmy lens to see if my shipping was warranted when i was a kid
i love the three musketeers sm so far i rly do that's why im savoring it & not speed reading
'my brave young man i will blow out ur brains' is such a badass line 1st off. 2nd, d'artagnan dealing those blows in the name of the friends he'd had to leave behind during this journey is wild cuz if ive been paying attention -- this guy had nothing [directly] to do w the other adversity the musketeers faced 😭 like he didn't order a hit on the other guys or w/e right??? d'artagnan is just passionate like that!!
lastly, the whole reflective bit abt men destroying each other in service of strangers/ppl above them on the totem pole ... the angst of it all babe. ties back to the bit earlier b4 my screenshots, when the musketeers talked abt how they had no qualms about blindly following d'artagnan on this journey no matter the cost ......

continuing the chanel/dorinda agenda i started in this post
i finished up annotating my omnibus of the final four books in the series for class. the last story was from aqua's POV, but we still got these last two chanel/dorinda moments through aqua's eyes ...
🐾
every time chanel and mackerel are in the same sentence or vicinity, dorinda has something to say abt it. it's giving jelly to me ... why wouldn't she be? she just spoke abt excitement over feeling especially closer to chanel in the book prior to this one !
🐾
and here, chanel has just asked the group of friends/performance arts school peers if her singing was bad, one of the snarky gay classmates makes a crack, and then comes dorinda to the rescue before anyone else can say anything xx
'there's something so romantic about friendship' - a storygraph review of the clique books that def applies to the three musketeers so far
