some oc art
WRITTING CHALLENGE: take 5 key objects your OC's universe and describe them and add flavor text, ala dark souls, to try and vaugely describe a part of your OC's world's lore.
(Hope u don’t mind if I pick objects from two Character’s Universes XD I have so many to choose from I’ll keep it to my favorites.)“Abyssal Heart” - Said to be crafted from the hearts of Fiends and other Abyssal monstrosities it’s highly illegal to possess in the Abyss, and even more illegal to sell in most magic circles. The horrifying way this magical regent is obtained and then shattered to make available for use in the darkest of magic makes it distasteful to most arcane practitioners. You can still hear the screams of the shattered existence of the creature this came from, it’s enough to drive some mad; others require it’s dark, stolen energies to survive the deep taint in their souls. These shards are roughly 2-3 inches long and seem to be the same texture as obsidian glass, however far stronger and without the sharp edges. It glows faintly with power.“Fiend’s Promise” - This odd coin is cast in no known metal. It has two faces but hands cover both. It has writing in a language that seems like it’s from a different world. Legends say a Fiend’s Promised can be cashed in with such a creature for a favor and are often found by those in dire need of something. Whether a fiend will show up to make good on their promise is never guaranteed. They are great bargaining devices in magic circles. Summoners in particular like them as regents to request help from the alternate realm that is The Abyss. The coin has an odd weight to it, though it doesn’t seem to be made of gold or copper.“Spire Drive” - The primary source of propulsion used within Senchine Spires or Computer Mind Stations. It effortlessly moves from normal space to slip space using far less energy than average engines. No one is exactly sure how it functions, it’s very difficult to research as it’s almost impossible to acquire Senchine technology outside Guild and Coalition influences. It’s even more difficult to connect common human technology with the pseudo biological Senchine systems. The drive is roughly half the size of the average warp engine, and lets off varying wavelengths of energy. It has been observed that these wavelengths seem to change depending on if it’s in an Active state or Inactive state. It’s a mystery what determines the state however.“Sentinels” - The Sentinels are Senchine. Observed to be retired Senchine Spires the giant gateways are often melded into asteroids and maintain their distance with incredibly high powered magnetic fields. There are thousands, perhaps millions scattered across the galaxy and it’s suggested that with the overpowered nature of these Sentinels that they might also allow for intergalactic jumps beyond their common warp gate potential. It is difficult, perhaps even impossible to contact a Sentinel gate directly without knowing the very specific line of inquiry that opens it’s navigation channels. Senchine have been known in the past to give these inquiry lines when asked and the Sentinel gates are often used by people staying off the Coalition grid. There is an eeriness to the floating gate, it is waiting for the signal to activate; seemingly silent but you can tell intelligence still lives within the spires. You feel the weight of a massive conscious spanning galaxies as you move beyond the threshold of Slip Space. “Substance N” - The vague codename given to the unique mix of drugs, genetic modifiers and various other questionable substances given to those who qualify for the Navigator’s program. The Guild has never revealed the mixture’s exact content and it is so closely guarded there are fail safes to ensure if someone were to obtain it the built in self-destruction would occur when introduced to any kind of spectrometer. It is incredibly dangerous to normal humans, but all Navigators are solely dependent upon it as an atmosphere. How it works isn’t even fully understood by the Guild, but slow doses over years turns the children selected into the creatures in the tanks that guide Guild vessels through Slip Space. It seems to have the color of cinnamon, but that’s all that seems remarkable about it, it reacts similarly to a liquid.
