I Spy || Tuah & Rein
Tuah opened his eyes slowly, the familiar pounding against his temple and the yet unfamiliar surrounding greeted him as he came to consciousness. Once his eyes slowly adjusted, he took in his surroundings. He was obscured by the shadows, and he could hear voices not far from where he was, though their voice were no louder than a stage whisper. There was laughter, though they didn’t seem to notice that he had woken up, and he wasn’t planning to notify them until he had ascertain the situation he was in. It was obvious that he was still underground, in one of the catacombs that was designed to hold the ‘entertainment’ for whoever was watching.
He could sense his patience was wearing thin, wondering how long could he stand any longer before he snapped. There were only so many times that he could stand to watch his friends be thrown in the midst of danger, constantly worrying if they would endure each trial or if they had to sacrifice one or the other in order to survive. Fortunately, each trial was met with success so far, but he did wonder how long until his luck ran out, until finally those sick bastards took away the ones he cared about.
No. I will not let that happen. Not while I’m still standing.
Besides Tuah, someone leaning against him, black curls invading his vision as head lolling on his shoulder, still oblivious of their surroundings. He took a deep breath, his lips curled into a soft smile as he recognised the scent of earth and something metallic. The smell of train tracks mingled with the rich earth after a heavy pour.
Rein.
