Thinking about a Mobreirit Hunger Games AU where trans!Ritsu and Mob pull a Katniss and Peeta their first game, and then when the survivors are brought back in the 75th games, Reigen is the District 11 candidate. He's not supposed to be there at all, given that he's an adult, but he was District 11's only living winner (much like Haymitch) so he gets yeeted in by default. Now he's gotta grapple with the instinctive urge to help the kids around him, the youngest of which being Mob and Ritsu, with trying to survive himself. He's charming and he knows how to play the cameras but that whole "protective bonding" thing won't work a second time when Ritsu did it with Mob the year before. He has to find a way to get them out permanently, and keep them alive at the same time.
Then there's Ritsu, who knows that he's the reason everyone got called back—because he forgot in a moment at the Reaping that he was not visibly a boy and so stepping out to scream that he volunteered when Shige's name got called wasn't the martyrous move he thought it was. He managed to save it and save them both but really, was it worth it when he's caused so much trouble for everyone anyway? When President Suzuki is obviously gunning for them now that Ritsu's made a fool of him? And then there's Reigen, who his brother trusts intrinsically but who Ritsu is rightly wary of? The only adult in a sea full of child competitors...he has an obvious advantage.
And Mob, who was happy to die if it meant that Ritsu could live the first time around, now is faced with the fact that he has multiple people now that he doesn't want to die. He can't save both of them, and he knows they can't just do what they did last year again—it won't work a second time. He desperately wants to believe that Reigen can get all of them out of there alive, but when he's the only one that can't bring himself to kill he feels like deadweight. Not only does he have to grapple with having to kill; he has to deal with how good he is at it once he starts. Almost like he's a different person...
