Well I'm just posting All The Things today aren't I? This is the first version of the cover to The Shade issue 10 that I posted a while ago. I was going for that Kirby-Galactus-Surfer vibe as a bit of an homage, but the rest of the crew chimed in and said that the Shade was too small in the frame. It was his story after all, and I could see their point so I changed it to make it more dramatic. It also tied in nicely with the events at the end of issue 9, sorta making it the beat-between-issues if u will.
This version however still has some nice elements to it: I do like the way the Shade seems insignificant under the gaze of the Celestial Pharoah, and the way the smokey shadow-stuff wraps around his mitt, flowing between the fingers was really sweet. But I could see how the Pharoah was getting waaay too much screen time here which is why I moved his head down and let his lady friend play with our Mr Swift (AKA the Shade).
That'll teach me to start the finished artwork before getting approval, eh?
