I'm scared of my basement when it's dark...

In the first week of college there was a fire drill and we all had to go meet in front of the dorms and it was at 1am. And me being the night owl I am was in the shower at 1 am... so I had to go out in a towel around my waist and put my old t-shirt on

Whenever I tell someone I'm Asexual they always jut kind of look at me, with this odd expression and ask, "But why? Why would you do that to yourself?" And then when I explain by saying I never want to engage in sexual activities they freak out. I don't even know. I feel very out of place.

Yeah, that's pretty rude. Probably they are trying to show sympathy, or empathy for you. It's not exactly the most tactful way to go about showing it, though.

"why would you do that to yourself?" - I mean, strictly speaking you're...not doing anything? Removing oneself from an activity that you know you won't enjoy...that just sounds like self-care, honestly. Maybe you can try explaining it that way to people who react like that?
