The State of Dates
Amanda Hess’s response article, ‘Technology Killed Courtship. Good Riddance.’ Responds to another article published in the New York times about the effects of “hook up culture” and technology on millennials’ dating game. Hess looks at the tone of the Time’s article and responds from a different perspective. Pointing out the theme of “chivalry is dead” and we don’t know how to communicate or invest in each other anymore. Hess’s argument paints how individuals portray themselves in modern social scenes differently compared to 50 years ago. Hess analyzes whereas the Time’s article assigns meaning in relation to social interactions on relationships today. This provides a more observant and unbiased approach to interpreting how millennials create relationships today.
