Relick release new single ‘Powder Pink’

'Powder Pink' is the second 2019 single from indie-pop band Relick after May’s 'Today Sunshine'.

In the wake of a four-beat count off, Matt Hibbard’s grinding guitars immediately pulse above a swinging bass drum that feels like a heartbeat, and it’s not long before Amber Nicholson’s ethereal vocals sail in to give lyrical context: “Her ribbon’s powder pink and it’s tied up,” sings Nicholson, painting a pretty picture that’s immediately tinged with melancholy as she continues, “In messages / Claims that she’s quivering at the sight of. Lyrically, 'Powder Pink' pushes the seams of the space between innocence and growth. Sonically, it’s power guitar pop built to make heads bob.

By the end of the track, the ribbon’s gone, the protagonist is relegated to one of “a dozen waiting in line”, and the refrain’s chromatic vocal melodies have become pleasantly unsettling (but no less energetic). It’s heavy stuff, but it’s lifted thanks to an obvious passion and an unshakable beat.

There’s a full LP in the works that promises to showcase a broad range of the band’s talents. “Our forthcoming album Lotta Noise documents various moods we’ve experienced the past few years while navigating our 20s,” says Nicholson.

Hey, so UHHH- What your favourite candy idk to Anyone

Benick: well mine is Cookie and cream treats~ like the little mini cookies that aren’t actually cookies but! I love em like they are cookies~!

Relick: I’d go along the lines of any fruity treats, maybe gummies but they get stuck between my teeth easily... I’m more of a Cake or baking type

Eli: I can’t have chocolate or traditional candy so I have to eat something without sugar in it... like I dunno... home made cookies?

Racer: Skittles~ it’s fun pass time to just sort out the colours and make actual rainbows with em

Onde: jaw breakers or suckers, something only I’m able to chew down on and break, when no one else has strong enough teeth for it~ or y’know any candy that’s black, like liquorice or jellybeans, list goes on for black candies
