Relicta flos - Literally, abandoned flower. Culturally, this carries a deeper significance to the Affini. Due to recent policy changes, certain species fall beneath the legal definition of "domesticatable." Not for logistical purposes. Ethical arguments were made, and won out. Legal precedents shifted overnight, and the tide turned against "mandatory Terran domestication."

Affini were, by and large, compliant with the policy shift. Opinions on the decisions are mixed, but it's essentially agreed that relicta flos are sophonts to be pitied. Requests for resources are always granted, maintenance of terran habs is upheld. Cruelty towards Terrans is rare, and universally punished.

But the Affini have no obligation to care for Terrans. Recovering florets have found life without their handlers confusing and difficult - but they survive and thrive in community with each other. They're in this together.

...there are ongoing discussions about whether or not relicta flos have a place in Affini society - integration attempts have had mixed results. Domestication purists argue that the floret and flos populations do not mix well. Flos tend to be bitter and resentful towards the pets, and florets, while well-meaning, are clumsy in their diplomacy.

Due to the political shift in the Compact, a small but growing contingent of Feralists has been allowed to argue their positions. Feralist centrists have pushed for the freedom for all sophonts to choose whether or not they are Domesticated, while hardline Feralists tend to favor the wholesale abolition of Domestication.
