The truth in communicating with the Gods
So, for a weird reason if you look in a Hellenic Polytheist blog, you will probably find this beautiful story about how their deity contacted them and they had a beautiful talk about life. Or something like that.
And even though it sounds amazing and let’s be honest, we want that too, it’s not that accurate. I’m talking in my personal opinion and experience as a Hellenic Polytheist that just started working with Lord Apollo, but im kinda sure Hellenism is not contact with your deity 24/7 and is kinda harsh to get it that in your mind.
My family is catholic and I grew up with this idea of their god always watching me, so when i started polytheism i was like “Oh damn all the Gods are watching me help” and like i was kinda wrong ;-;
Yes, the Gods probably sometimes are watching after you, but they have their own things and they can’t be with you 24/7. Like if they wanted, they could, they are divine and they can do any shit they want, but like... i don’t think that’s how it works.
In other hand, the internet makes some believe the communication with deities is like messaging someone that will instantly respond. MMMM no. Probably they will respond in 8 days, or sometimes they will not even respond
AND THAT’S OKAY.
If they don’t respond is because of something okay? They probably have a reason that will or will not make sense to us, we just need faith. And if they do respond, don’t look for the signs your favorite blogger had, every religious path is unique in it’s own way, your relationship is probably different than mine! I personally have only talked once to Apollo, and was just to tell Him that i wanna worship him and that’s it, and i don’t need to be contacting Him daily because... idk I’m okay with just patiently wait for the right moment.
They can communicate with you through dreams, memes, etc etc, and i consider its kinda unique with each Hellenic Polytheist.
Like, we are also in the internet. If i fail ill tell you that i failed because im like that “guys, my spell sucked” but in general, most of people will tell you their success! Like in social media we control EVERYTHING we post, and this stories are posted because they succeed.
But do we really read the ones that failed? No.
But like my child, deity communication is a skill and even though when you’re an expert, is not easy.
So please please please don’t compare your relationship with the Gods to your favorite hellenic blogger or whatever, and if your deity does not answer the same moment you look for them, don’t panic, is not because they hate you, they just have their reasons.
