Day 3: What kind of witch are you? 

I like to call myself a Spell-tongue, since most of my witchy stuff is based around speaking and chanting stuff. but I meddle with all kinds of witchcraft, kitchen, sea, weather, love, I've done (and do) it all.

Cloak of Night, protection chant

As you know I favour chants and energy work in place of spells full of stuff. Here's a protective spell I've been using.

Mother Night open your arms

Shield me from harm in your starry cloak

May darkness consume those who mean harm to me

Protect me like a child of yours

Mother Night open your arms

I chant this 4-10 times, with every repetition I take a deep breath and visualize a cloak enveloping me from head to toe, like black water streaming down my body.

I've been a spell-tongue since I started in the magic stuff, around the age of 10.

I know I'm quite powerful, and I've had my tests, but lately I"ve seen a growth as a spell-tongue and as a devotee of my deities that's quite amazing. I've always liked the weather work, and always tried to bring it in my practice and honouring the 'weather spirits', but lately whenever I do a spell, even the most simple protection spell for a friend, it rains.

I've never felt so connected to my surroundings as I'm feeling lately, and it's quite amazing, as I thought I had reached the top of my abilities, I've experienced some incredible growth, and I give credits to the fact that I'll be teaching/helping a friend, who's very dear to me, magic and witchcraft. I don't know, this is giving me a new approach on my spell casting and religious path...

I've been trying to write this post for a few days, but I hadn't had the time. Here's something about me, and my approach on witchcraft and magic.

under a read more because I don't want to flood you with a wall of text if this happens to be huge.

What is a Spell-tongue?

This is highly personal, but a spell-tongue is someone that approaches magic mostly in chants and verbal magic. Most of the spellwork is done by actually saying things, even with just your inner voice. It doesn't mean that a spell-tongue doesn't use other ways of spellworking, it's just that it's easier for us, assuming other people approach magic this way, to do it by chanting rather than burying jars and using a lot of stuff.

Why I call myself a Spell-tongue?

I don't really like having a ton of stuff to do my spellwork, mostly because I don't have physical space to have lots of spell stuff rolling around and I live with people who often go throught my stuff. So I found it easier to focus and do my stuff by chanting. Since my spellwork and religion most of the times mix together, I often call for spirits and deities to help.

Witchy stuff...

I do love how people can have jars and places to bury them and do stuff, I don't have it, but I'll always reblog spells that get my attention so that you can also look at it and try it if you want. I haven't had the time to go throught my notebooks and pieces of paper, but I'll soon post a few of them, holiday season is always very busy in my house.
