It is hard to fathom that our new learning program has been open since this past August. We have several wonderful students, one Bar Mitzvah this past October and another one coming in less than a month.
Even though we’re mid-way through the school year, it is never to late to introduce your child(ren) to Jewish education. We use an open and responsive curriculum for our students. If you’re worried about Hebrew language, we tutor the language to each student individually, not everyone having to read the same thing. Our years of experience have shown us that to both attract and retain our students, we must be prepared to dispense with many of the traditional pedagogic models for Religious Schools and be more fluid and we are finding that it works very well.
And while it may be true that some of our big holidays have passed, don’t forget that another two great ones are coming up in the next few months, Purim and Passover. And there’s lots of hands-on fun planned for both of them!
In the middle of December, we had our first Kabbalat Shabbat and Dairy Pot-Luck Dinner. What a lovely evening it was. The students and their siblings led our service and we shared a wonderful dinner as well. We’re planning another one in February and whether you children study with us or not, you are cordially invited to join us. We’ll be sure to post the details here and also remember to look for us on Facebook as well!
Ruth and I are always ready and willing to sit down with you or with you and your children and discuss our program and what we can offer, not just to your child, but to the family as a whole, without any commitments whatsoever. Just a “schmooze” session.
On the last Sunday in December, one of our students stood up from his chair and said, “I LOVE coming to school here, Mr. Greene!” We hope your child will too. So here’s to a great 2016, one that will bless you and your family with good health, peace and prosperity.
