The big day had come. Eleria had risen early to bring all that she needed to the park where the festival was being held. With her was the various other (mostly sleepy-eyed) artists setting up their booths. She greeted the few she knew cheerfully, often receiving only grunts in response.
It wasn’t enough to dampen her spirits. Humming softly to herself she set up her displays, eager to share her work with any who came by. Honestly she was content to simply bring a bit of joy in the lives of anybody who stopped but she often had plenty of offers.
There had been times when she wondered if she had manipulated those who had bought her paintings and sculptures into their purchases but had always dismissed the idea. If she had she figured they would have tried to get their money back. She had never made herself unavailable to contact, after all.
Regardless of those somewhat introspective thoughts Eleria was happy to be outside and in sunlight that dappled through the shaded trees. There was always a sense of pleasure in these gatherings, a happiness that she soaked in like a sponge.
It was closer to mid-afternoon before the girl really managed to catch a break. She had enjoyed talking to the various people that had been by but the crowds had started to die down a touch as the afternoon wore on. Perhaps she would manage to peruse the rest of the booths and possibly some of the demonstrations being put on.
It wasn’t until she noticed a commotion that she paused in her meanderings. It was coming from the more open end of the park where the light of the sun wasn’t blocked by trees. Cautiously Eleria made her way towards it, looking to see the source. A waved of terror and despair made her stagger until she managed to block herself off from what was coming at her. People fled in all directions jostling her as they fled the source of their fear. Others froze where they stood, simply staring at the enormous glare of light that stood there.
Wide amber eyes took in the scene as she stood just outside of the tree cover. What was going on? What was that thing?
