I saw a painting somewhere and thought of Rastha with Glorym, so a version with both faces (I can't paint even with references)

Hi, everyone! I'm back again with some Remarried Empress fan art.
I made it based on this ask for @pruneunfair
I must admit, back in the day, when I was fully team Navier, I thought she was really badass in that scene and with her dialogue. Now I have a similar opinion to the anonymous and pruneunfair.
I'm not here to rant against Navier, I just thought it would be fun to do these panels and share them.
Also, I wanted to add the Shinji chair meme to Rashta's panel, but I couldn't fit it well. Maybe someone else could've done it, but unfortunately, that someone isn't me. Sorry. Nevertheless, I drew the meme, and you can see it here:
Another fun thing, to me at least, is that I accidentally gave Rashta Marianne's vibe thanks to the hairstyle and clothes I gave her. (Marianne from "Into the light once again") This was completely unintentional.
This was really fun to make, and I hope you'll like this.
Till next time ❤️
Hi, everyone! I'm terribly sorry for dissapearing for so long (not sure how exactly long it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a couple of months).
I started my university classes in March and I started working on a project for my course on narrative. I also had a huge artblock that made me unable to draw Rashta in a way that I really liked.
I tried making this drawing weeks ago but my artblock kept me from getting the result I wanted. So I decided to take a rest and focus on other stuff instead.
Now I feel better and I was able to finish this drawing.
I decided to redraw the scene of Rashta copying Lebetti's dress during the debutante ball at the palace.
I don't like Lebetti and I didn't feel bad for her at all during that scene, she deserved it. Being a fangirl over Navier doesn't erase the fact on how she was mean to Rashta just for being a slave and how she hated her nephew just because Rashta was his mother (but, hey! It only took almost all her family being killed to "care" for her nephew).
That was a lot of text-dumping. I apologize if you got bored, and thank you for being patient with me and my sudden dissapearances from IG and Tumblr.
See you in a few weeks (if we are lucky) 💖
Here's the original panel:
Yeah I have nothing against a character who likes wearing extra bows and extra frills, it's a personal right and hobby, no one should be criticized or think of as bad for that
But using it to make them the "lesser person in the room" basically a clown who has no rights to be validated is extremely bad, dehumanization can only work in specific cases just not this, plus it's not like Rashta is the first ever Empress/Concubine with a flashy wardrobe but suddenly she's the worst cuz unlike the rest, she's a scamming cheating slave
I mean even clowns are people but society sometimes fails to see that, Rashta is always addressed by this icon 🤡, which is frankly humiliating cuz it's not supposed to be a joke at all, it's so funny no one seems to care just how overly glorified the toxicity in this Fandom is
That scene of Rashta at the paternity test ritual is telling of how bad they handle her character, that outfit isn't wrong in any way, it's just not at the right place or the right time and it's further used to subtly demonize her character, not so subtle really when it's rather blatant
I also believe that making Rashta the “lesser” person by wearing something “extravagant”, even though I mentioned previously how the novel art shows that Rashta doesn’t dress as differently as Navier does, so I don’t see the alleged flashy or extravagance of her dresses, as a cheap way to make Navier look "better".
Indeed, Rashtas' benign actions (Which don’t involve her serious crimes) are often exaggerated because of, as you said, being a “scamming cheating slave”.
The dress she wore for the paternity test is not inherently wrong, but you are right that it doesn’t fit the place and time.
I remember a friend of mine mentioning that she saw Rashta as a person who didn't always know how to dress for the occasion, which doesn’t sound bad in the context of her having zero experience with fashion due to her past as a slave. But I do believe that the author might’ve not taken into account that an Empress would most likely have people assessing her on her wardrobe.
Yes, Rashta did throw a tantrum over her wedding dress, but we later do not see any interaction of her with, perhaps, Viscountess Verdi suggesting dresses for her to wear and Rashta complaining or flat out rejecting her suggestions. So… was Rashta just choosing on her own?
If so, I suppose she didn’t do a bad job since, unlike the webtoon, the dresses on which she’s depicted on the novel art are pretty and befitting her position as Empress, in my personal opinion.
(Also, sorry for taking so long. I won't lie and say that I was extremely busy. I directly forgot I had this on my inbox, I'm sorry)
Drawing inspired by this panel of Rashta eating pumpkim pie from episode 197 of The Remarried Empress
Sorry for dissapearing so abruptly, I've been dealing with some artblock and I've been focusing on my driving lessons as well (Yes, I'm 22 and I don't have a driver's license).
I tried drawing something to see if I could snap out of the artblock, and it worked apparently.
This is a redesign of the clothes I gave Ian and Glorym in my drawing of Rashta seeing her children playing together.
I hope you'll like it 💖
I was a bit busy with college and with a personal project so that's why I didn't post for such a long time.
Plus, I have not been feeling very "inspired" to draw Remarried Empress fanart since Rashta's death. It's like, I lost interest in the story after that (which I'm not surprised of).
Someone suggested me to draw this panel in my style, so I did it.
I really hope you'll like it, I feel like I've been improving on my style in general and also on my rendering.
Thank you so much for everything (I'm not saying I won't publish more fanart or stuff, I just feel grateful that you stayed despite me dissapearing for so long most of the times)
I was a little dissapointed when I saw that episode 190 of The Remarried Empress didn't show this moment when Rashta sees Ian and Glorym playing together, so I decided to draw it in my style
I hope you'll like it 💖
