A story with a bad ending: "How the user @ameliazane scammed me, using AI-generated drawings as if they were her own."
Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I wish I could say the same about myself, but I'm not. I caught a really nasty virus and I'm only just now getting better.
I'm a huge Sailor Moon fan. It was the first anime I ever watched. I still remember being five years old and seeing the opening of the first season on TV. Thanks to that nostalgia and love, I decided to write my own Sailor Moon fanfiction. So when @ameliazane contacted me herself, offering to do a commission based on my fanfic, I was thrilled and accepted her terms.
I admit I made the mistake of not noticing that her blog was empty when we agreed to the commission. No fan art, no concept art, no sketches, and no other commissions. She wasn't even reblogging posts from other blogs. However, I did take the precaution of asking @ameliazane for some of her work to familiarize myself with her art style. Since I saw the images on my phone, not a computer, I didn't notice anything unusual and assumed she was imitating an anime style, which was essential for the commission I wanted. Because it was my first commission, I didn't know much about the costs. So I trusted @ameliazane's word that 100 pounds was a great deal for a full-body drawing, plus an extra 20 pounds she asked for to draw a background. At first, everything went well. @ameliazane asked me for a reference image and a description of the drawing I wanted, which I sent her. @ameliazane sent me sketches and made the modifications I requested. One thing I have to be honest about is that I was often late with payments due to various physical and mental health issues, which strained her finances. Something I appreciated about @ameliazane at the time was how understanding she was regarding payment deadlines for the commission installments. She never got upset if I was late with a payment and extended the deadline for me.
Therefore, when she delivered the final piece, I didn't complain, even though I personally considered it a poor job, given the high cost. At that point, I had already approached Tumblr artists who do commissions themselves, like the talented @vanisagi27 and @lady-nyx-de-muertos (go check out their blogs!), and they charged much less for work that I consider a thousand times better and more accomplished. Damn, another talented artist, @wanderinginwonderagain, who doesn't yet take commissions but has uploaded several of her drawings, had done better Sailor Moon sketches than the work I had paid for.
It must have seemed suspicious to me that, given my delay in paying, @ameliazane repeatedly offered to do a second commission. At first, I refused for two reasons: 1) I had to pay the first commission.
2) I hadn't yet seen the final result of the first commission.
But @ameliazane offered me a deal: 150 pounds to draw a specific scene from my fanfic with two characters. I couldn't resist the temptation and accepted. I managed to pay an installment of 40 dollars. It was with this second commission that my suspicions began that @ameliazane was using AI to produce her drawings. This time, despite her repeating the same request, I didn't send her a reference image, opting instead to send only the descriptions of what I wanted.
The result was a piece of work that bore little resemblance to what I had asked for. To begin with, she drew a character absent from the scene, Sailor Moon instead of Sailor V, one of the protagonists at that moment along with Tuxedo Mask, who didn't look as I had described in my instructions. I explained the mistake, and she promised to fix it.
But the next sketch not only failed to meet my instructions again, but it also looked somewhat different from the previous sketch. I didn't make a big deal of it and demanded that @ameliazane make the changes I had requested. I even sent her several images to serve as a guide and inspiration, so she would understand what I was asking for.
After almost a month, she sent me a third sketch, and when I saw it, all the alarm bells in my head went off. The sketch had so many changes that it no longer resembled the scene I'd asked her to depict in the commission. Sailor V and a long-haired man looked like they were posing for an Instagram photo instead of fighting. Tuxedo Mask was nowhere to be seen. I started analyzing the details of the drawing, and they seemed messy or drawn in a very strange way. Nothing resembled what I'd asked for. It unnervingly reminded me of something done with AI.
I didn't want to accuse @ameliazane right away, so I asked other Tumblr artists for help; I asked @vanisagi27, @wanderinginwonderagain, @lady-nyx-de-muertos and @d0vegum (Go check out their blogs, they're amazing!) for their honest opinion on whether all the drawings, including those from the first commission, seemed to be made with AI. They all told me they were 90% sure they were AI.
I immediately wrote to @ameliazane, demanding an explanation. She denied everything, but ironically, her justification—that she didn't use AI—read more like a confession, because she was incapable of creating a personalized drawing based on my instructions. And with each redesign, she drew something random.
When I demanded proof that she did the drawings herself, I asked her to send me sketches, concept art, or coloring processes. She only sent me a video of a drawing that wasn't any of the ones I had commissioned. It wasn't enough to convince me that she wasn't using AI; on the contrary, the absence of sketches or anything similar seemed very suspicious. Furthermore, the drawing in the video had a very different artistic style from the commissions I had entrusted to her.
I demanded to see his portfolio, and oh my god, what a horror! Everything looked like it was done with AI! None of the designs matched each other. Sure, it's possible for an artist to have more than one style, but no one other than Pablo Picasso could possibly be capable of so many different drawing styles. Most of the drawings looked like they came from a fraudulent animated commercial trying to sell a phone app.
Without further hesitation, I asked @ameliazane for a full refund of all the money I paid her for the first commission and what I had managed to pay her for the second. I didn't want to be funding AI; the evidence she gave me to convince me that she created her own work was insufficient, and ironically, it only convinced me more that @ameliazane was using AI.
Instead of accepting that I had exposed her and apologizing and returning my money, @ameliazane continued to insist that she didn't use AI and that I was being irrational and rude. She said she did everything for the love of art and that she wasn't interested in money. Which I found amusing, because the excuse she gave me for why the coloring on the first commission was so sloppy was that I hadn't paid her £800 for a good job. What an art lover!
Since our last conversation, she has refused to answer my messages and calls. This situation is causing me deep distress. I didn't spend a small amount of money, and her refusal to give me a fair refund after deceiving me has caused me profound emotional turmoil. My health has been very fragile lately, and I don't have the financial stability to lose my money on the artistic delusions of a scammer who uses AI.
@ameliazane I beg you to refund all my money! Please stop lying! I've already figured you out!
Otherwise, I will be forced to sue you for fraud, because that's what you did when you refused to admit you were using AI when I asked you, even before the commissions started.
If anyone knows a way to recover my money or demand an explanation from @ameliazane, please leave it in the comments.
Hi, everyone!
I'm back from the grave with a special redrawing!✨
I decided to redraw the first fan art of TRE that I posted on my Instagram!
Oh boy, how time has passed! That redrawing was made back in August 2023! Wow!
I remember when I first started and was so self-conscious about my fan art, but you all supported me, which gave me the motivation and courage to keep drawing and posting my art. For that, I'm very grateful to all of you, and I hope you'll keep supporting me in the future ❤️
See you all on my next post! Take care!
Hi, everyone! I'm back again with a panel redrawing!
This time with a panel from episode 2 of What Death Taught Me.
Not a big fan of this manhwa, the art is pretty in some panels, but the story is oddly similar to Sister, I'm the queen in this life (Which already has problems of its own), and it has some aspects that irk me. That's why I wanted to redraw this specific panel:
I find it highly disturbing how the story is trying to sell us the idea that a young girl (a MINOR) "seduced" the protagonist's father, and how this means she's a wicked villainess who deserves death instead of a victim of abuse in the hands of a GROWN MAN.
Bear in mind that the manhwa aged Kanna (the villainess) up to sixteen years old, while she's only twelve in the novel.
I have no idea if this change was made in an attempt to not make the whole situation look that "bad", even though the problem of portraying a minor as a seductress to a grown man persists regardless of whether she's twelve or sixteen.
[EDIT: Someone in the comments pointed out that Kanna is actually sixteen in the novel as well, which I confirmed after making a Kakao account to be able to read the original novel.
I want to apologize. I saw forums and youtubers confirming that Kanna was twelve as well and took it as face value. It was a mistake on my part and I'm very sorry.
However, Kanna is still a minor.]
And the worst thing is that our protagonist, Rinette (who went back in time and is mentally an ADULT), looks back on the interactions between Kanna, her adopted sister, and her father and treats it as "Kanna seduced my father!" instead of "My father abused my (adoptive) sister for YEARS!" Plus, several readers of this manhwa share that belief. You can go to the comments on the second episode, and you'll see how many people treat Kanna as a shameless seductress.
I wanted to do justice for Kanna. So I redrew the eroticized panel of Kanna ""seducing"" Baron Hilt so it actually portrays what the scene was about.
A young girl who just lost her parents to a mining accident and was left all alone.
Sorry for the rant. I was quite mad at this story, and its portrayal of Kanna. My mutuals feel the same way, as well as several other people.
I hope you like both my interpretation and drawing.
Take care, and see you on my next post❤️
Hello everyone! I'm back!
With some "Sister, I'm the queen in this life" fan art once again!
This was meant to be a small comic, similar to the one I did with "The remarried empress" a long while ago. And although it's still "small" at only 4 panels, I got carried away with the rendering and ended up making it look way more polished than the one I made for TRE. I'm still very satisfied with the result, though.
I wanted to showcase the hypocrisy of both the narrative and Ariadne as a character when it comes to body-shaming and slut-shaming.
Ariadne is presented to us as a character who was severely criticized and ridiculed for her body before the regression. Mostly about her size and her curves, which did not match the story's universe's beauty standards of a small and delicate woman, and was often seen as vulgar or lewd by other noblewomen.
This was also used by Isabella to further harm Ariadne in her last moments, as she recited Cesare's opinion of Ariadne's body to her.
This is terrible, and we are meant to feel sorry and empathize with Ariadne. HOWEVER, barely a chapter later (in the manhwa), the story shows us Ariadne slut-shaming her stepmother for her large chest and the way she dresses.
To be fair to Ariadne, this could very likely be a trauma response after years of experiencing this degrading treatment. The problem is that the story doesn't portray it that way. We are supposed to agree that Lucrezia is a B-word and not question Ariadne's mentality.
Ariadne never faces a moment where she sees how wrong her mentality is and how much her trauma is affecting her perception of other women, and that irks me.
Yes, Lucrezia is a terrible woman, but that's no justification for Ariadne to degrade her in the same way she was for years in her first life.
There are other instances where the story body-shames other characters, but it doesn't treat it as such; instead, it frames it as something they "deserve" because they're evil.
And that's so wrong.
Sorry for the long rant, but this really made me and a mutual very mad.
I hope you all like this mini comic, and thank you for bearing with absences. I'm so very grateful to all of you.
See ya❤️
Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!🎅🎄
I'm back with another redrawing of a panel from the manhwa "She wasn't my daughter" (from episode 39).
@bernkastel11 said a while ago that they'd love to see how I'd redesign the dresses Diana and Alicia wear in the manhwa art:
I tried to follow the description of Alicia's dress from the novel: A yellow bell-shaped dress paired with a purple shawl and amethyst jewelry.
I've said before that I'm not really a fan of dressing the villain badly to make them the readers' laughinstock while making the protagonist look better by comparison. Plus, almost all the dresses Alicia owned were a gift from Diana, so there's no way Diana gave her a "ridiculous" dress.
That's why I made her dress pretty while keeping it simple, compared to the dress Diana is wearing.
Diana, however, had no description of her attire, so I had more creative freedom. I went with a pink dress, as it's Diana's favorite color according to the novel, and of course I had to pair it with diamond jewelry, since they always bring up the Pereshte diamond mines.
You can see my hairstyle and clothing redesigns here:
Similar to my last post, I tried drawing and rendering the background myself, which isn't perfect by any means, and I still needed a couple of 3d models from the Clip Studio Asset store to pull it off. But I'm happy I took the time to actually work on a background instead of rendering one of the 3D models I already own and calling it a day.
I can only hope I'll get better with practice, and that you don't mind some amateurish background work for now.😅
Vani out. See you next year with more fan art and redesigns! Thank you all for your support and love! ❤️
Have a happy New Year! 🎉
I do wonder in she wasnt my daughter, what if reader aka us reincarnated as catherine? What will we try to change and overcome which person that would trigger our demise?
I think it would depend a lot on which point in Catherine’s life the reader reincarnates into. Like, it would be a very different approach if the reader reincarnated on the day Catherine was born, or when Catherine discovers Alicia is her biological mother at age ten, or directly at the same time as Diana’s and Iselle’s regression.
I think the first two make the easier route to, probably, avoid Catherine's cruel destiny. Still, the reader would be in a complicated scenario if they reincarnate as Catherine in the last route mentioned, as I believe that any action the reader does to try and get on Diana's or Iselle's "good graces" would be seen by them as Catherine trying to manipulate them shamelessly or as some cheap acting.
How do you feel about the Maleficent live action? Frankly I think it's actually pretty good, the first one at least (Diablo is a fave), but I can see why ppl hate it cuz it kickstarted a pretty bad trend of misconstruing villains' actions as misunderstood and therefore it really "changes from black to white" (A term used to point to when an ideal is twisted into an entirely different one that missed the point of the original)
Which ofc we have an obscene trope of literally excusing criminals just for having a sad background or they do bad things to achieve good things which is a very dangerous water to tread altogether cuz YOU KNOW it's a very complicated moral debate at that point that would confuse a person's perception of what is wrong by a mile
I liked the live-action the first time I saw it. I’m pretty sure I was about twelve years old by then. Although certain things irked me, since I was very young, I thought something along the lines of “This was made by Disney, it can’t be bad. You’re just imagining things.” OH boy, was I innocent or straight up dumb, or both?
I share a similar opinion to Bobsheaux (Like I said in a post a long time ago, I love using him as a podcast when I work). Here’s the link to his review of the movie if you’re curious.
However, I will admit that Angelina Jolie ATE as Maleficent. That was a marvelous cast choice, to be honest.
The whole “Making the once bad guy a misunderstood individual while making the once hero the real evil” trope was fun the first 100 times they shoved it down our throats. It just became boring and predictable after that. Sometimes, a man wants to see the world burn without needing a tragic past or villainizing the hero to make them look better by comparison.
Okay I would love to see you do a redraw of this panel with Alicia and Diana
They're not even being subtle about how much they hate Alicia with the garish purple gown. Again the designs aren't ugly but it's still not good at all
But what's worse is how Alicia and Diana are meant to be mothers here but they dress like two girlfriends who are not mothers or married, frankly I would have liked it if they were more mature looking and more appropriately dressed as women who are both mothers
I would love to redraw it, to be honest.
I don't mind the color being garish, since the novel describes it as such. HOWEVER, the novel describes Alicia's dress as a bell-shaped, garish, almost neon-yellow (not sure how you get that in whatever time period they live in, but they might attribute it to some "magical dyes" or some BS) dress, with a garish purple shawl and amethyst jewelry.
I do agree that they should look a bit more mature, especially given that Diana married at a "later" age. (stated in the first novel chapter how she passed her prime age to be wed, and that's why she ended up with Calypso. And, historically speaking, that could be her early twenties). As far as I know, she and Alicia don't have a considerable age difference so, yeah, both of them should look a bit more mature.
I really feel for you, Vani!
That you have to read She wasn't my Daughter, that monstrosity is disgusting but you pull through to give us great redraws and I read Prune's post about Diana being a shit mother in the novel with the screenshots provided by you
Btw I love the redraw Catherine, she actually looks way better than the original design and actually feels historical with her gown and hairstyle, not that the original is bad but just like every other Manhwas' continuous flaws: Their fashion is still not very historical themed and often fell into the modernized designs
All the posts with screenshots of the novel from Prune's post came from me. I love discussing with her how grossly Catherine was handled and how much of a Mary Sue Aisel is, so it wasn't terrible. But, thanks for your condolences :3
I'm so glad to hear you liked my last redrawing ❤️
I had quite a bit of fun looking for a good historical reference for Catherine's clothing, and ended up choosing the one I did since I love the Hesse-Rhine sisters so much.
I do understand where you're coming from. I've seen a lot of outfits in historical manhwa that sometimes fall into the modern category instead of historical (Like Ariadne's debutante dress that I also redesigned, LMAO)
I'm glad to find someone else who shares my opinion about Catherine from She Wasn't My Daughter. The manhwa could have worked if the villains were Alice and Calypso, and the demon Eclipse was the more powerful hidden villain. Catherine shouldn't have been an antagonist, but rather a trigonist, another victim of circumstance. What do you think Catherine's role should have been in She Wasn't My Daughter?
I agree with the idea that Calypso and Alicia are the main villains, rather than making Catherine, the fifteen-year-old, the BIG evil that the author depicts her as.
I actually brainstormed a couple of ideas with @pruneunfair (ILY so much, girl ❤️) on how to make Alicia and Calypso's roles as villains more prominent and to emphasize Catherine's role as a victim of neglectful, selfish parents.
A few of them (which I remember being me who brought it forward first, correct me if I'm wrong):
I'm a big Michael Jackson fan — very random — and you might think, "What does that have to do with any of this?" but please, bear with me. I wanted to emphasize Alicia's greed and her uncaring attitude toward her own child (since the story tries to elicit sympathy by making her "love" Catherine), so I drew inspiration from the infamous Evan Chandler. Mainly, how he talks on this 1993 phone call, saying that helping Jordie (his own son) is IRRELEVANT to him and making it very clear that his only objective is to get money. He was my main inspiration for the vibe I want Alicia to have as a villain.
On the same note, I also imagined Alicia engaging in the same shady business as Evan Chandler, a dentist, did for extra fees to certain addicted patients. Alicia supposedly bribed the entire staff of the Grand Duchy; she needed a lot of money for that — and she needed it quickly, too.
Another idea I had was to, while also lying about Diana's child being stillborn, she also lied to Calypso about the gender. She did that to distance him from Diana further, since she was allegedly unable to give him a male heir. But this also backfired, since Calypso resented having to "settle for" Catherine, a girl, when he could've had a son with Diana. Plus, this would make it more believable that Calypso didn't put two and two together and realize Aisel is his biological child, since he genuinely believed his child with Diana had been a boy.
Also, to gain more influence over Catherine, I thought about having Alicia as a Munchausen by proxy—essentially making Catherine sick on purpose—so she could spend more time with her, since she's still just the estate’s doctor and has to act accordingly around the young lady. When you need to convince a child of something, you need time with them. Plus, I believe this would also make her plan for Catherine to go "blind suddenly" and have Diana sacrifice her sight work better in that context. She stopped making Catherine sick intentionally after Diana became blind because she no longer needed to worry about Diana noticing how much time she was spending with "her" daughter, which wasn’t related to Catherine’s health. This would also be a key plot point for Diana to realize how Alicia was manipulating and using Catherine, especially since her daughter, who often got sick unexpectedly, was healthy after she sacrificed her sight.
Alicia's feelings toward Catherine in this version? She's essentially her backup golden goose for her to use once she gets rid of Diana, ensuring she would still have benefits from the Marquisate of Pereshte as Catherine is the Marquis's only granddaughter.
Calypso's feelings towards Catherine? Like I said before, he resents having to settle for a daughter —an illegitimate one —instead of the legitimate son he could have had with Diana. He feels ashamed that Catherine is the result and proof of his adultery, but she's the only child he has left (which isn't that different from the canon).
Alicia would be the one to make a pact with Eclipse to fake Catherine's mana and powers.
I don't want to portray Catherine as an innocent angel misunderstood by others, like many do when trying to make the villain sympathetic (I'm looking at you, MALEFICENT LIVE-ACTION). I want her to be an asshole and cruel to Aisel, but at a kid's level — a bully, not the sadistic beast the story made her out to be. She would still insult Aisel daily, but most of the harsh words she yells at her, like: lowlife, worthless, trash, are actually directed at herself. Catherine isn't a saint, but she's still a child whose entire world was turned upside down. Everything she believed was true turned out to be a lie, and she was made an accomplice in her father's affair and her biological mother's plans at just 10 years old. This would definitely mess with a child's mind and cause behavioral issues.
Catherine, on the first timeline, deeply mourned the deaths of Diana and Aisel. She had no involvement in the plan to kill Diana and didn't find out until it was already carried out.
I imagine more time passed between Diana's death and Rueri discovering she was actually murdered (Rueri finds out immediately in the novel), during which Catherine became very depressed (Blue Diamond level) and was overwhelmed by guilt. I actually did a couple of sketches of Catherine like that:
Regarding the first timeline, I imagine Calypso essentially giving Alicia the middle finger by marrying another high-ranking woman instead of her, as he "promised" he would after she killed Diana. He has already achieved what he wanted without getting his hands dirty, and with the Pereshte diamond mines, he no longer needs Alicia except as a mistress.
Following the first timeline, Rueri did take his violent revenge on Calypso and Alicia after he found out she had been murdered. Catherine reveals the truth about her own parentage and begs him to bring back both Diana and Aisel. Rueri forbids Catherine from being part of the deal with Eclipse because he doesn't want to put her at risk while summoning a DEMON, so she doesn't have the memories from the first timeline, unlike Rueri, Diana, and Aisel.
Rueri isn't an asshole to Catherine after the regression and actually feels sorry for her, as he sees how Diana initially acts distant toward her. He’s the only one who knows how much Catherine mourned her mother and how deeply her death affected her. However, like in the canon, he can't reveal this to Diana because of the deal with Eclipse.
To wrap this up, since I’ve written a lot and I might be boring you with all my ideas (and the couple of gifs I added to this, sorry), I thought of Catherine having a redemption arc like Anastasia did in Cinderella 3. I love Anastasia and Cinderella ❤️ Plus, I’d really like a small moment between Catherine and the Marquis Pereshte, similar to when the king tells Anastasia that "Everyone deserves true love" (and him telling Catherine about his good friend, Alicia's father, Catherine's biological grandfather, whom she never got to meet).
I'm sorry if this was very long and tedious to read. I'd love to hear your opinion on these ideas of mine for an alternative version of SWMD.
I had other ideas, but I can't remember. I might have to check on my DM's with Pruneunfair to see what I forgot.
Hope you enjoyed it, and I will be waiting to read any comments you have on my take on SWMD
(Edited after I checked the grammar, I'm so sorry, I wrote this at 1am ;-;)
I recommend you read this manhwa if you enjoy a story where they critique daughter and father tyrant stories and also what the effect ogfl(the one with blond hair who is mentally an adult in a childs body) affect the economy and also the fact the effects of fl and others who have to suffer under ogfl and ogfls tyrant daughter obsessive father
Thanks for the recommendation.
I'll have to consult with an expert (AKA. @pruneunfair) before I give it a try.
But she might not have read it yet, so I might be the beta tester in that scenario.
We'll see how it goes :3
Tbh, I do love the fact you gave catherine in your redraw a dress that genuinely suited and I especially love the hair honestly
Thank you so much ❤️
I actually took inspiration from these dresses that Princesses Victoria, Elisabeth, and Irene of Hesse-Rhine are wearing in this family portrait from 1875:
Victoria was 12, Elisabeth 10, and Irene 8 years old by the time this photo was taken, so it fitted with Catherine's age during that flashback (10 years old)
(I wasn't sure how the dress looked from the back, so I did my best to make it look good ;u;)
The most WTF things in RE:
1. Spin-off: Imo, Rashta deserved a slightly heavier payment for what she had done. I know not being an Empress and learning the truth that Sovieshu didn’t love her was shocking, but I feel like they were nothing compared to what she did to Duchess Tuania and many other things. And, Sovieshu should really go to hell! And, Navier, how could you forgive him? 😡😡
2. I don’t know but I feel like Navier’s thoughts are too… high and refined. Do you know or remember her thoughts after receiving news of Rashta’s death? It was like she had indicated she hated Rashta for hurting her ego and feelings, but after a flashback of what Kosair did, she decided not to hate Rashta anymore. I was like: “Huh? Girl! You can be honest! Just say: ‘Even though I hate her, her death does not at all make me feel better!’”. Besides, some of her thoughts were also like… too complicated for a simple matter.
3. Sovieshu. Many WTF things about him
4. Rivetti’s decision about being Sovieshu’s mistress: It was the most hilarious thing I have ever known in my life. She despised Rashta and mocked her for being a mistress, a mere plaything. If she could officially become Sovieshu’s Concubine, wouldn’t it be the biggest slap to her? Seriously, Rivetti?
5. Alan when asking Rashta to treat Ian like a quasi-prince: Maybe… delusional was something required in this series. 🥰🥰
1.
I really love how the author is so willing to give Sovieshu a redemption arc and have Navier forgive him, resulting in a happy ending.
But Rashta isn’t allowed a chance of redemption. I know there’s a spin-off in which Rashta works as a maid for Navier, but that seemed to be a “dream” that Rashta’s spirit had. While Sovieshu’s spin-off is kind of a “reality”.
About what you said of Rashta being punished, based on your example of Duchess Tuania, she might deserve some, as the Empire does consider slander (towards a NOBLE) a crime.
2.
I suppose the author wanted to keep the refined vibe of high nobility and royalty in her characters’ way of expressing themselves.
To be honest, I never saw a problem with that. There are very few times when some refined or “elegant” speech has made me cringe or feel like “What am I reading?”
This is just my opinion, however.
3.
I agree.
4.
That plan was just foolish and not well thought out. But Lebetti is just a teen (a very classist and mean one), so I couldn’t expect much of her to be honest.
And, true, it would have been very ironic for Rivetti to look down on Rashta for being a mistress, just to become one herself just after her social debut (if her plan had succeeded).
5.
More than delusional, I’d call it greedy. I was so appalled when I read the: “You weren’t much help to him in the past because you were a slave…” BS Alan said to Rashta.
It is basically confirmed by Rashta’s father (another SOB) that the Rimwells could have always made Rashta a free woman, but chose not to, and Alan never fought his parents or did anything for her after she became pregnant, was locked away, and after they made her believe that her baby was dead.
This “man” is just like his father. Same trash, different trash can.
I'm back from the grave, everyone!
This time, I redrew this panel from episode 8 of the manhwa "She wasn't my daughter."
What's my opinion on the manhwa?
It's really messed up how they made a FIFTEEN-year-old the immense evil in the story when Alicia could have easily filled that role. I feel they made Catherine overly evil to justify all the stuff that happened to her throughout the story as "karma".
I've already read the whole novel and am currently waiting for the manhwa's second season to be published, as I want to see how they adapt certain scenes in a comic format.
Getting that out of the way, I wanted to redraw this scene as it's a critical moment (when Catherine finds out the truth. I won't say much more to avoid any spoilers for anyone who wishes to read it) and I wanted to make it look more dramatic.
I'm not complaining or saying "I can do better than you, manhwa artist!" These poor artists have to draw panels for weekly episodes, and it'd be very unfair and ignorant to demand more "quality" when they are overworked and dealing with burnout.
I do these redrawings for fun, as I have stated several times before, and as a practice for me in terms of composition, rendering, and, in this case, background.
I actually did the background myself for once instead of relying on rendered 3D models from Acon3D. I've seen a lot of people hating on the overuse of 3D models in comics, and, since I don't have the week limit most manhwa artists have, I should try doing a background myself.
Although I did use 3d models as references for some of the furniture, I don't know yet how to do elegant furniture in different perspectives.
You can see the background without effects here:
I hope you like it and see you all sometime (I'm so sorry for disappearing so often), Vani out.
Hehe,i love your art so much and honestly I love that comic you made about rashta pointing out to navier honestly and if i want, i can give you a hug if you want
I'm so glad you like my art and enjoyed the mini comic I posted recently. Thank you so much for your kind words. I like hugs in real life, I'm not against receiving hugs, so bring it on.❤️🫂
I feel like people don't draw children's clothing very well in manhwas, here's an example
I know children would love flashy shiny stuff but these two girls are an overkill
Redhead didn't need what looks to be a kokoshnik, the blonde already has so many beads on her dress she doesn't need more on her hair it just clash
Found it on Pins btw
I haven't paid much attention to kids' clothing in historical manhwas, so I don't really have anything to compare with what you've shared with me. However, you are right to say their clothes are overkill.
The red-haired girl definitely didn't need a headdress; maybe simpler earrings would have suited her better, perhaps some pearl earrings so they stand out over her red hair. I like the bows with roses on the sleeves, but I think them also being on the hem of the dress is too much. Also, the golden decoration on the end of the sleeves should've been replaced, in my opinion, with some black lace instead. The same goes for the ruffles on the hem of the dress.
For the blonde girl, I agree that she didn't need the pearls in both her dress and her hair. I would leave the ruffles and lace decorating the skirt, but I would remove the roses and the bows on the hem from the equation. The headdress is pretty, but maybe just keep a few roses on one side of it instead of all along the headdress. I don't really know what her earrings are supposed to be, but I believe the hue doesn't go well with the whole palette of the dress.
I'm not an expert on the fashion department; this is simply my opinion on the matter.
