Belated post in honor of the two-year anniversary of Carrie Fisher’s passing this past Thursday. Although she may no longer be with us physically, she will forever remain alive in spirit. I wish I was more aware of this national treasure during her lifetime, but nowadays I am continually inspired and empowered by her. #carriemygeneral Carrie fisher was a huge inspiration for me since the first time I watched Star Wars as a young girl in the early 90's. She taught me that princesses didn't have to be damsels in distress and could be just as strong as the men. Then later in my life when I got diagnosed with bipolar disorder she was a huge inspiration because she was never afraid to hide that part of herself and was such an advocate for mental health issues. This picture of myself is when I went to go see the force awakens in theaters, before the tragic loss of our princess. I wanted to do something to celebrate Star Wars so I put my hair up in the classic Leia buns. It's been one of my favorite hairstyles to wear.
