I like the south park episode where they go on a crazy adventure to find out what bunnies and colorful eggs have to do with Easter. I love Easter so, so much more today, than when I was a kid hunting for tons of candy, chocolate, and marshmallow chicks covered in colorful sugar. As I've found faith, and grown my faith over the last few years, I would definitely say that Easter Is my favorite holiday. I do love hiding eggs and helping my niece to find them, and and of course all the candy and sugary chicks that have become an Easter tradition, but those aren't the main reasons I love Easter so much. I feel like too often, we forget the reason we celebrate the holiday in the first place. We celebrate Easter because on that day 2021 years ago, our lord and savior, the only wholly sin free man to ever live, Jesus Christ, three days after having the entirety of God's wealth poured out upon him, and dying one of the most brutal deaths imaginable as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins, WALKED OUT OF THE GRAVE!!!! "And should I ever need reminding What power set me free There is a grave that holds no body, AND NOW THAT POWER LIVES IN ME!" #Christhasrisen✝️ #rememberwhywecelebrate #Easter #ourGodisalamb #Jesusdiedforoursins #ourGodhasrobbedthegrave #Jesuslives (at Greeley, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNNRGcGMCRcgC0FOUe29Gm5ONHDnAWjsJOeFyg0/?igshid=icge7xmmcgtp
June 19th is celebrated annually across the United States as Juneteenth, a holiday marking the freedom of formerly enslaved African Americans on June 19, 1865.
This year, Juneteenth arrives amidst the context of THE largest civil rights protests across the world since the 1960s.
As someone who has celebrated Juneteenth for a long time, I think we need it now — not in lieu of the freedom, justice & equality we are still fighting for — but in addition to, because we have been fighting for so very long.
For me, Juneteenth truly matters because it signifies that we keep going as the future we want collectively as a country & throughout the world is coming!
