#Repost @ollie_putnam (@get_repost) ・・・ Long day of filming today, started with two dives at Aliwal Shoal seeing oceanic blacktips, raggies and big stingrays, then the afternoon filming and location scouting on land at Scotbrough Beach where shark nets are deployed to "protect people from sharks". The contrast between the perception and the reality of sharks being in the area here is hard to understand. Maybe if we could take all the people that fear sharks (and are convinced the nets protect them) diving with the sharks just a few miles offshore and show them their fear is not justified, maybe less of them would be convinced the shark nets are necessary... 🤔 Maybe we will just have to make the best film we can showing the reality of the situation and hope that changes enough people's minds to make a difference and lower the public support for the nets, which is the driving force behind their continued use...
