With their later work the Scottisch instrumentalist band Mogwai has increasingly indulged in electronics and with their recent album Rave Tapes they made songs you can almost dance to. Almost. It’s like 90s rave but really slowed down… a lot. Springing from their post-rock tradition it is also a break with their typical sound but not an absolute one. Mogwai has always been experimenting inside and outside the straightjacket sound of post-rock, and this song is definitely a beautiful, moving, irresistible result.
