jaune was his best friend. his teammate, his leader, his brother in arms. there wasn’t a lot he wouldn’t do for him - and right now, jaune just needed someone. things were tough ever since the fall. ever since haven. everything... it seemed like everything kept coming at them.

but jaune needed ren to be strong for him. he owes him that much.

“... i’m here, jaune,” ren speaks calmly, slowly. loud enough for jaune to hear him, to understand. a hand raises, placing itself on the blond’s shoulder. “... i’m not going anywhere. that, is a promise.” manages a small smile, trying his best to get better eye contact.
