The Scots
Until recent times we were on the very top of the world, Ultima Thule. We are a strange religious place, dominated by England (By force) and Ireland (By religion). Many of the "more severe" and dogmatic churches came from here, we were downtrodden by the English at that time and treated badly by them (hence my hesitance to be one with them) yet in religious dogma we led the world (I know; a strange thing to lead the world in). We were also at the forefront of science and recognition, in fact the inception of the new Renaissance. Edinburgh being named as "The Athens of the North" as more philosophy, writing, poetry, science and anatomy was conducted here than any other place since, Wencleslas's Prague or Machiavellian Florence. An austere people we were always known to be, as could be expected under the dominion of others. Yet at the forefront of almost every invention, science, and process of thought. We are and always (I think) will be, a strange people, the Scots, Noting the changes and ringing the bells of the new age we would happily step into. Yet at the same time frightened of what that new age may bring.
