Important questions: how do you feel about Jean/Hitch, Jean/Hitch/Marco, and shameless self-promotion of a fic I beta which contains the former and will contain JHM in a sequel fic? Also, college aus?

im extremely down for JeanHitch in any universe where JeanMarco isn’t/can’t be a thing (MEANING IF ITS EVER SNK CANON EVERYONE IN THE FANDOM OWES ME FIVE BUCKS FOR CALLING THAT SHIT IN 2014) and also shameless self promotion! so sure anon! whoever u are and whatever your fic is, i wish you all the best!

I myself am not personally... comfortable? capable of shipping OT3s which is a crying shame bc JHM is an excellent idea and would have solved all the problems in Render, really

So I finally read Code Yellow (it took me that long to work up the courage, no joke) and yes, it was sad, but so well written and just overall good that I can see why it was nearly canon. But thanks for giving us the happy ending as well; happy endings are always nice

well considering code yellow was somewhat a worst-case-possible scenario to a fic that was already pretty heavy, I can’t say I blame you for waiting so long. i’m glad you liked it, and I kind of want(ed) to go back and really flesh out exactly how that small choice of Kingsguard vs Wings changed SO MUCH, but then senior year of college hit

happy endings are very important to me, surprisingly; i may not really have much of a reason to believe in them myself, but it’s one of those things that fall into the category of “sometimes the things that may or may not be true at the things you need to believe in the most.” which is a killer line from one of my all-time fav movies, Secondhand Lions.

Honestly, I’m really glad that I was able to share that with you guys - and even more glad, forever glad that you enjoyed it so much. It really means a lot to me (though it’s far, far from perfect and I wish there were some major plot things I could change about it) and it’s just.... gosh, it’s just so great to see people enjoying it as well. Even if their ‘enjoyment’ is often miserable screeches and loving threats towards my personal safety.

RENDER!BORIS IDK

Render!Boris, who only appears in Code Yellow even though he canonically exists during Render, is kind of a horror story. Boris was the reckless only child of an extremely rich family who drowned in their prival pool after getting extremely drunk.  By the time they found his body, it was too late to recusitate him even for Kingsguard, so instead his parents essentially made a robotic copy of their son. He was about 85% synethic when he was completely, had been 'programmed' to be Boris by using home movies, stories from teachers, etc. to try to recreate his personality.  However, it wasn't enough; having a son who wouldn't age, drink, eat, or sleep was just too much for his parents to handle.  They gave him back to Kingsguard and commited a double suicide shortly afterwards, probably donating their fortune to both the company and various charities as the grief of losing their son and the horror of living with his doppleganger was too much. Render!Boris' actual 'humanity' is impossible to define.

who else? RENDER!ANNIE

Render!Annie was a mechanical engineer major at a better school than Jean attended (ha, ha) and the rather rich granddaughter of one of Kingsguard’s founders. While rooming with Hitch, she found herself rather fond of the girl, and suggested Hitch be Salvaged after her accident because she honestly thought it would help.  However, after all of that went to hell, Hitch's relationship with Annie became entirely bitter.  It is unknown if Annie's actions in Render are to protect Kingsguard or to protect Jean; if she is trying to take down Kingsguard in her own way, she's never told anyone.

RENDER!ARMIN

Render!Armin was raised by his grandparents after his mother, a teenager at the time, got pregnant with him and realized she couldn't care for a child. He sends her letters from time to time, but they don't really have a relationship; on the other hand, his relationship with his grandmother is still extremely strong, especially considering the fact that most of his grandfather's life insurance went to pay for Armin's medical school. Armin suspected Grisha Jaeger for experimenting on his son when they were in middle/high school, but couldn't really prove anything and in middle school was kind of known for being a conspiracy nut. He kept in very close contact with Mikasa and Eren throughout his life and was responisble for bringing Eren in contact with Wings of Freedom.  By the end of Render, he's probably dating one of his co-workers, Alphonse Elric, though I suspect he'll eventually try dating Eren (again) one day. I do love me some Eremins.

RENDER SPRINGLES!

Render!Sasha and Render!Connie are pretty mundane.  Went to the same college, probably tried being roommates for a year and it wrecked their relationship. Spent the latter two years of their education avoiding each other in classes, but ended up working for the same traveling theatre company and started up a friendship again. Once they ended up in Sinapolis, they probably got a speeding ticket from Mikasa and from there quickly heard about Marco from Armin and vowed to do whatever they could to help Jean out. Their relationship could be romantic, but it's definitely not sexual.
