Christmas Day, St Anton, Austria….

The forecast was for snow on Christmas day. However, in St Anton, it is driving rain. Lovely.

9:45 am – Rendl Restaurant – I got soaked walking through town to the Rendl lift. I caught the main cable car up to the ski area, and at 5000 ft the rain turned to snow. In the cable car it was impossible to see anything. The mountain was shrouded in fog and driving…

Day 3: Skiing in St Anton, Austria

A beautiful day. Clear blue skies and sunshine, and it had warmed up from -13°C yesterday to -5°C.

Snow conditions were great and the piste bashers had done a great job.

I spent the morning skiing over at Rendl. I almost had the place to my self, and I managed to get a few runs in on trails that had hardly been skied.

Skiing at St Anton, Austria – St Anton, Rendl and Lech

I keep returning to St Anton in Austria to ski….  why?

Well, the town is stunning, the slopes are challenging, and the nightlife is extraordinary.

St Anton has some truly great skiing, both on and off piste.  I would certainly describe the resort as being for intermediate/advanced skiers, and not for the beginner.

The resort can be split broadly into two areas:  Rendl and the rest.
