I was snooping around in my music files from last year and found the original unfinished draft of Renewed Return that I submitted for Homestuck Vol. 10. I figure there are some folks out there who might find it interesting to listen to!

It gets a little closer to the final product as the song goes on, since I wrote the beginning a few years in advance with an entirely different orchestral library and had to go back later and flesh it out.

Then of course it kind of falls apart at the very end because I was still writing the song up the the very last second before I had to send it over to Noel for solo string recording, and to Kyle to draft up the sheet music for our choir. (We didn’t even have lyrics until a night or two before we recorded the choir!)

Special shoutout to Yishan for coming over and helping me shape the melodic structure (and many Homestuck music quotes) of the last section with his rad-as-heck flute improv.
