LORE PREVIEW - THE IMMORTALS
The Immortals are the highest ranking members of the Darksworn class and are gifted with the most frightening powers. There are many legends of Immortals toppling mountains and harvesting the energy of oceans during the previous Age, the Age of Chaos. They are arguably more powerful than even the strongest of Mages and Sentinels. There are only eight Immortals in the entire world at the moment and they secretly meet within the Dream World; an ability they inherit from their high level of Corruption.
It usually takes several decades of being exposed to the Corruption and harnessing enough life energy to become recognised as an Immortal. In return for their mighty powers, they require more energy to sustain themselves and will slowly go insane. A very small number of Humans are naturally attuned to the Corruption, allowing them to harness its power more quickly than other members of their kind. These few are more likely to climb through the ranks and become an Immortal.
All Darksworn defer to the Immortals. They are the leaders of the Darksworn until Chaoslord Setek awakens. However, there is no true leader amongst the Immortals themselves. They are notorious for scheming and plotting against eachother so there is less competition for supreme power and rewards from Chaoslord Setek when he returns.
