The way I write Silver is this guy that's constantly worried about whether he's fucking up his own future, and despite "fixing it all" different times. It's an endless cycle that never meets his standards, but he usually sees it as a means to continue doing such until that goal is achieved. However, I feel like his friends (Mainly Blaze but I'll include Sonic and Shadow for this.) See it as an unhealthy delusion Silver's fed by.
They are...impressed, yet scared and or worried of Silver's optimism and idealism because they don't know when or how he'll eventually break knowing he'll never have a stable future. He doesn't want to eradicate evil, he wants everything equal--but it still twists into a future where his version of harmony is never there.
Sonic sees the idealism as draining and perhaps misses the irony that he, too, often runs into danger without considering the future. Shadow has seen despair and futility firsthand, he recognizes it as a different kind of obsession--perhaps one that leads to stuff within self destruction. He would respect Silver's resilience but simultaneously dismisses his mission as naive and ultimately pointless, as harsh as it sounds.
Blaze sees the emotional toll this takes on him the most clearly, though. She's even seen Silver slip into self-doubt or even full on breakdowns over this whenever there's a new threat that leads to a catastrophe, but it isn't for a long time until Silver takes on that challenge with determination and a smile. she's terrified of how long this'll last, when he'll finally see the truth. but she doesn't want to break his heart (or his mind). Not Yet at least.
They see Him as a kind soul but at the same time, a bomb. They know fully well what Silver is capable of and they know how well his intentions are, but...
...What is he fighting for?
