I love your art of the batch teasing each other with their impressions. Would you ever do one where Echo does a mic drop by doing impressions of each of them in like 30 seconds? He is the ARC trooper after all.
thank you! and i've considered it. same with an omega version. i think it'd be funny to have the juxtaposition of omega being sweet, and echo absolutely annihilating them. the main issue is that i have zero ideas for what they would do or say
the idea doesn't seem to want to leave my head, so maybe in the future there's another sequel. who knows, maybe the ideas will randomly hit me XD
Hi! I always get sooo sooo excited when you post new SW pieces and The Bad Batch Downtime series. I was wondering if you are ever open for commissions?
That makes me so happy to hear!! ;u; Another comic is coming up soon--I hope you'll enjoy it as well! Hehe
Not currently open for comms at the moment--a bit swamped with projects + work + school, so yeah... :')
Thank you for asking though! <3
Day 7 of 30 Days of The Bad Batch
Season 1, Episode 7: Battle Scars
Our noble King returns and the squad confronts a unnerving and malignant truth.
This episode easily makes my top three favorites of the series because (1) it has Rex in it and (2) it's a chilling reminder for the Batch on how they are still susceptible to the influence of the chip. Also, if you're a Jedi Fallen Order fan this was a fun cameo of Bracca.
Re-watching this episode, I cannot get over just how beautifully rich this episode is in detail. The texture of the rusting ships, the contrasting lighting you experience as the squad and Rex move in and out of old decommissioned Venators. The animated Star Wars shows just don't get enough recognition for the amount of artistry and creativity.
Inhibitor chip controlled Wrecker is terrifying, but I think, in a lot of ways, the squad got off easy. He's scary because of how imposing he is, but I can't imagine what would have happened if Tech or Echo's chip had activated. With all the technology and the maze of ships on Bracca, the rest of the squad would have had a hell of time controlling either of them.
Also! Did anyone else want a clip of Hunter fussing with his hair when they had to shave his head for the chip procedure? Missed opportunity.
Day 2 of San Diego Comic Con! I haven’t cosplayed in a while but it was so fun!!! Can’t wait for day 3.
Day 5 of 30 Days of The Bad Batch
Season 1, Episode 5: Rampage
The squad moves on from a life of soldiering and enter the mercenary world.
The Bad Batch dive into the underworld while on the hunt for answers on the bounty for Omega. Some have critiqued this episode as creating a typical formula throughout the series of the Batch bungling a mission and needing rescuing from Omega.
I don't think that is a very fair criticism of the squad. Now on the run from the Empire and no longer having the monetary and logistical support of a well-oiled military machine, the failures and missteps of the Batch are emblematic of veteran soldiers attempting to find their feet outside a system they were born to be dependent on.
Star Wars is a Space Western and if we were to fit the Bad Batch into the trope of the Western genre, they would be the equivalent to the wayward Civil War vet who find themselves ensconced in the frontier territories that operate outside common law or morals. Usually that character fall into the role of a lawman, a vigilante, a mercenary or, a combination of the three. Throughout season one and two, we watch the Bad Batch vacillate between these roles.
Personally, I enjoy watching their shortcomings more than their victories. It's much more satisfying to watch them learn and grow as they try to adapt to a changing world and their ever-changing circumstances. Plus this is another solid episode that highlights all the specialties of the squad, which always makes the story stronger and more interesting.
Day 2 of 30 Days of The Bad Batch
Season 1, Episode 2: Cut and Run
A lovely episode focused on the anxiety and self-doubt of parenting.
Not sure why it took me so long to realize that this episode was crafted to reflect the stresses and uncertainty of first-time parenting. (Probably bc I, myself, and not a parent LOL)
The best part of this episode for me, when I re-watch it, is getting to see Hunter slowly soften his demeanor and his approach to Omega. It was great to see Hunter accept her into their group, then get hit with self-doubt when they encounter their first bout of danger, and to finally fold her into the squad while admitting he is very new to type time of role - the role of a father/brother.
General live musings from my re-watch below!
Day 1 of 30 Days of The Bad Batch
Season 1, Episode 1: Aftermath
Alright. Let's dive into, probably, my favorite episode of the series so far. It's just such a great opening to the characters and the story. What a way to open a series right at Order 66. I just knew we were in for such a rollercoaster from the start of this show. Really, Order 66? That's where you're starting off the show? Force, have mercy on us all.
The biggest gem of this episode is that it's the only one we get where we get to see Hunter, Echo, Tech, Wrecker, and Crosshair just be a squad together. If I had my wish, I would have liked to have seen more of that before Crosshair and the rest of the batch split off. It was harder to see what the loss of Crosshair did to the team on an emotional and military tactics level. We didn't get much in the way of their team dynamic apart from Crosshair just being known as the surly, grumpy one. While I do love all the theories around how it was likely Echo who stepped into the role that Crosshair had like like being the peacekeeper between Tech and Wrecker's, it would have been nice to see more of that so we had an idea of what the Batch lost.
I've put my live musings of the episode under this thread for the sake of my followers. Sorry, not sorry!! Ya'll knew what you were getting into following me 👀
Not sure if anyone else is interested in doing this but if you're also re-watching TBB before the season 3 premiere be sure to tag all your musings in the #30 Days of The Bad Batch so I can read them!!
